It will pave way for both Navies to rehearse the concept of joint naval operations and enhance own skills in order to gain from each other`s experience, says a release by Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters in Colombo.

Two Offshore Patrol Vessels, one Fast Missile Vessel, two Fast Gun Boats and six Fast Attack Crafts from Sri Lanka Navy and one Destroyer, one Frigate, one Missile Corvette, one Landing Ship Tank and two Fast Attack Craft along with one Maritime Patrol Aircraft from Indian Navy is to participate in the exercise from 19th to 24th September.

The exercise between the two professional Navies will result in upgrading and strengthening the naval potential of both the Navies. It will also create an opportunity for the Navies to strengthen the cooperation and mutual understanding between them to a greater height. it also added.

NEW DELHI: India and Sri Lanka are all set to hold a major joint naval combat exercise off Trincomalee next week, as part of New Delhi's continuing intensive diplomatic and military engagement with Colombo

The strategy to provide arms and military training, coupled with intelligence sharing and 'coordinated' naval patrolling, undertaken even when the Sri Lankan forces were battling the LTTE, has been primarily aimed to counter China's ever-growing strategic inroads into the island nation.

Doesn't make any sense!

They (centre) do not care about tamils sentiments.

Security is the UTMOST important thing that any country gives priority! After the 9/11 and the subsequent terrorist acts that hapned in many countries, it is higly unlikely that the so called freedom fighters can survive with their bogus claims! So India is no different!

......they can't afford to have a bigger Chinese presents in SL......,may be that is why they are flexing their muscles.........I think we are into a very dangerous game here...........,

It's a KIND of Game!and MR knows what shd be the next move! Just like China doesn't want's India is getting petted by US, Sri Lanaka too doesn't wants to get bullied by India! Though many think that it is b'cos of Chinese presence that India is flxing their muscles, then India has proved herself a COWARD and cannot protect her neighbours! In fact she cannot protect herself from 10 armes terrorists! LOL!

BTW...why you insulting these innocent animals...Aren't we the new animal lover's in the world...???

Giving them the humans staus is INSULtING??????
