Road Kill in highways is normal... when I drive to work at least per week you could see a racoon or a skunk... this is not only in Sri Lankan highways....
Hiway to the dogs.
I mean people who have traveled on the Sri Lankan Highway has given it high regards for it s quality... why try to talk down something that was built for the betterment for the people of Sri Lanka??? dont you think this is indeed a great achievement???as per road accident well give it some time this is the first time we had a highway back home... just because there are accidents it doesnt mean we should NOT build highways...

Country needs highways- not one, we need many connecting cities countrywide. Highways are definitely the gateways for the development.
Stray dogs are every where - from parliament to roads. Dogs are intelligent animals and after sometime they will stay away from highway.
However, i believe that the government should have invested this money to upgrade the existing railway roads instead - build a rapid transit railway system. It is the most affordable public transportation system and that could benefit everyone.
SL has around 330,000 registered cars and 22,000 duel purpose vehicles. These owners are the users of this highway. But every single citizen has to take the burden of the loan that took out to build this road.
A simple cost benefit analysis would allow them to set right priorities.

| Come on Lalith's, isn't this a bit too much? A lot of people welcome the highway. And this is going to improve peoples lives, being able to get to colombo and back in 2 hours, is going to make a difference. |

I am not agreeing with this is a highway to Dog but its more looks like a highway to death..
No Lighting.. Driving at night will definitely be scary..
Bent of this nature with no warning signs going to create lots of fun when you drive in 100Kmph..
Maha Jara can earn few more millions of bugs if he invite Chinese investers to open few hospitals and Funeral Directors besides this Highway.. |

Ha ha... true. Maharagama traffic has improved, they've laid down a one way system there. And I hear they have already planned a fly over at the maharagama junc. The roads from there to Colombo passing wijerama and nugegoda are not so bad now either. So it's not 5hrs- 1.5 hrs depending on the time... it's more like an hour worst case scenario. |

That is what I think too.

EXpressway is not a Bad IDea.
But high speed railway would have been better. |
