so whats the point things change n this is not last month n they have change it based on the current situation...according to this dumbo...all should be a one big static plan...geeeze
there is nothing wrong changing plans to achieve set targets. open economy should be open for changes.
however, the question is why the government plays double game? One hand they say they never listen to IMF but on the other hand they exactly did what IMF recommended.
Why don't they have balls to accepts the fact? just because punnakku eating supporters believe everything that government says?
Sri Lanka denied on Wednesday that it had devalued its currency at the demand of the International Monetary Fund to secure the rest of a $2.6 billion bailout.
Colombo on Monday cut the value of the rupee by three percent against a basket of currencies, despite spending millions of dollars in recent months to defend the unit.
Release of the latest IMF payment had been held up by the Washington-based body's calls for the island to adopt a 'flexible exchange rate policy' to ensure its export competitiveness and protect reserves.
But Sarath Amunugama, senior minister for international monetary cooperation, said: 'The IMF concerns are not our priorities.

i think, the problem is not whether you accept govt or not whether some one have the brains to understand the reality...
for several years, central bank was keeping the rupee stable agaist the doller as a measure of controlling inlation(going agaist IMF recommendations) n doing so it has sell dollers diminishing our reserves and putting pressure on exports and we have reached a situation where some for depreciation is need whether IMF said or not ..again shows the level of understanding of things of the SF supporters, just throws word based on what some one else says without trying to understand the context or the bigger picture! |

i am not an economist. I am not questioning any monitory policies. What i am asking is why the government ministers feed punnakku to their blind supporters.
This is what Dr.Amugama said to one paper:
'The IMF concerns are not our priorities'
And again he said this to another paper:
Senior Minister Sarath Amunugama said the next instalment of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) standby facility of US$2.6 billion is expected in the first quarter of next year and an IMF team will visit Sri Lanka for talks soon.
Do you think that IMF release loans with no string attached??
there is no free loan buddy. But look what the government minister said. This is why i say only punnakku eaters buy these stories.

who said that there are no strings, whether punnaku or not govt have done the right thing at this point of time ..so whats wrong it is the same thing that IMF asked as long as it is the correct thing...in that case IMF was asking to float the rupee for the last three years which govt didnt abide with..n now all of a sudden when it was depreciated to balance the diminishing reserves all of a sudden people r jumping saying IMF was dictating...then how come govt didnt do it for all this time....rather than repeating what others say, try to understand the reality first before commenting on things!

there is nothing wrong in Mihin Air and Sri Lankan Airlines sharing the destinations between them
GOSL make Mihin air as a Parasite and suck part of the money from money losing Airlanka. Because GOSL can not give any more loans to Mihin air. |
