It seems the average Sri Lankan doesnt mind a dictatorship.

Provided that peoples' aspirations are fulfilled.

Baka,
Executive Presidency is OK -esp. for a country like SL -but with the proper checks & balances.

but 18th amendment rmoves the chack and give more unchecked powers to president.

But my point is this. When we are unhappy with something -next step chosing an alternative.

For me -in the last Prez election only feasible choice was MR.
If the same lot runs again today it will be the same

when CBK was ruling MR was not even leadership radar. MR came in becuase CBK had to go after 2 terms. MR just won 2005 PE with help of Velu. If CBK had 3 terms MR might not have never emerged as a leader.

we won't see alternate to leadership if we don't give an opportunity. by giving 3 or unlimited by 18th amendment we are making situation even worse.
