if you take the voting patterns, lankan people have most of the time have chosen the best leader of the lot at that time an in that context no matter what the govt propaganda was

the president in power abuse state resources to win elections. that's why the ruling oarty wins the second term confortable. Presidential elections have always been a farce. A sitting President has never been defeated at election. Election malpractice, abuse of powers and the govt media always guarantee the second term. The only thing held back abusing this power was the 2 term restriction. With the 2 term restriction removed and more powers vested in president by 18th ammendment, it is like giving a signed blank cheque.

..people are not stupid..

well they elected CBK two times.

Who was better? Chandrika or Ranil?
What would have happened if Ranil was the president?

MR and Premadasa both are practical people. Different from CBK or Ranil.

Controversial 18th Amendment of Sri Lanka - All day debate on September 8

United National Party and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe returned to Sri Lanka after completing his visit to India this afternoon.

Ranil is not taking this 18th amendment very seriously. Only poor UNP supporters here make feeble arguments against it.
