BERNARD GUNATILAKE REVEALS THE UNP`s AIM OF THE 2002 PEACE AGREEMENT.

Friday, 13 August 2010 - 4:39 AM SL Time

Giving evidence to the Reconciliation Commission, the former diplomat and Peace Secretariate boss-Bernard Gunatilake, said that the aim of the UNP for the peace agreement and talks with LTTE was to use the talks to create split in the movement rather than to really achieve peace or to solve the ethnic problem.
He went on to say that UNP succeded in creating split using Karuna.
Futher, after the Elephant Pass defeat and sbusequent debacle in the attempt to recapture EP followded by the Katunayake attack, the government accpted that, militarily, both parties were at equal strength.
We Tamils have been saying all along, the motives of the sinhala nazis were not achieve real peace but to undermine the Tamils struggle by using the traitors.
This has been vindicated by the sinhala nazis themselves.

..Y Karuna realy parted away.

Neither Karuna nor the papers said the real reason ,why the scum betrayed the movement.
We Tamils know the reason, from the fighters who fought along with is scum.
His nefarious activities, and breaking the movements code of conduct on several occassions were brought to the notice of THALAIVAR
Once, one senior cader submitted a written complaint to Thalaivar regarding the scum.
What Thalaivar did did was,to call the scum from Batti to Vanni and gave the complaint letter to the scum and asked him for explanation.
The scum bluffed, saying that the particular cader and had some grudges, because he was strict with them regarding the military matters and that was the reason he made that complaint.
THALAIVAR believed it and let him go.
He retuned to BATTI and gave a very hard time to the particular fighter who complained against him.
Here THALIVAR made a very grave mistake,as he did not deal with the complaint competently.
This was the weakness of Thalavar. He was always very loyal to his trusted lieutenants.
He did not learn any lesson from Mathayas episode.

This was told to me after MAY 2009,by one of the broadcaster of an European Tamil Radio. The broadcaster's brother was fighter and he fought till the end of the war and got injured in the last clashes.
The broadcaster brother went to Vanni and rescued his injured brother and brought him to Europe and the fighter is living in Europe now.
THALAIVAR trusted the scum and not the fighter.

Nale, correct me if I'm wrong, I thought Karuna's main reason for falling out with VP was because Batti boys were never given much credit by the Jaffna leadership. Isn't it also true that the LTTE leadership was out to kill Karuna towards the end of his dispute with VP? If that was the case, what options did he have except for the one he took? Hobson's choice, methinks.
