Aug 1 (LB) Duleep Mendis, CEO Sri Lanka Cricket has been served notice to vacate the post within a month s time citing that the longest serving CEO has overstayed the stipulated retirement age of 55, but observes say that this was part of SLC hierarchy s witch-hunt. Mendis admitted being served a notice when Lakbimanews contacted, but was none committal when asked what he thinks of the sudden move.

Because of dire threats and intimidation on the owners of Siyatha after the Presidential elections, Kariyaperuma went abroad for a period. At the last Presidential elections it was the owners of Siyatha who provided funds for the common candidate Gen. Fonseka s election campaigns which incurred the displeasure and bitter resentment of the Govt. officials.

Mendis was the CEO of the Sri Lanka Cricket for over five years and was one of the most experienced officials to serve the cricketing establishment in this country not to mention his yeoman service to the game in the past, as a player, captain, selector, manager, national coach and finally the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.
SLC on Wednesday fired its Marketing Manager Charith Senanayake as they were not happy with his performance, but critics say that Senanayake has been responsible for sealing many lucrative sponsorships deal to the national team during the last 12 months.
A cricket observer on the condition of anonymity said that the present hierarchy is all out to get rid of anyone who could offer any sort of threat to them and SLC s latest move was no surprise.

Reliable sources confided to The Sunday Leader that there is a strong suspicion that another company gearing to enter the TV broadcasting field, whose managing director s brother is a government politician known for his strong arm tactics, to have had a hand in the Siyatha TV attack
