All department heads will quit their posts if no solution is found by August 16, said Prof. Ameratunge, who is also dean of the Management Faculty, the University of Sri Jayawardenepura. University staff take turns volunteering for the post of department head, a job that carries much responsibility
These university dons should earn their present salary first. There are many others in the government who deserve raises. |

Some of us were taking the piss AnuD. Don't take it too seriously. If everyone agreed, life would be so boring. A good opposition is a healthy sign, regardless of how stupid they may seem. hee hee.

Guy Platton, Charge d affaires of the Delegation of the European Union says theEU never felt that it was a criminal act on the part of the Sri Lankan government to wage war on the LTTE, though the EU always wanted to end the fighting to pave the way for a negotiated settlement to avoid massive loss of life in contravention of the Geneva Conventions.

A nestea is Rs15 so I presume a normal tea is lesser than that.

Dr. Joy Maheswaran, one of the key negotiators of the LTTE when the outfit engaged in talks with the Government from 2002 to 2005, said that the LTTE made a severe blunder by withdrawing from the peace talks and had dug its own grave.
Dr. Maheswaran who is currently domiciled in Melbourne, Australia was delivering the Professor Eliazer memorial lecture at the University of Monash last week.
Elaborating on the blunders that the LTTE had committed, Dr. Maheswaran said that the outfit did not negotiate honestly to reach a durable settlement to the national question in Sri Lanka and did not conduct themselves in a reliable manner. Commenting on the LTTE, he said that the LTTE had been defeated completely and there was no way the outfit could regroup again.

I cannot recall LNP having a discussion on the attack on Siyatha radio station. The whole story bothers me. I hope someone would find the real culprits even if they are behind the present regime.
