WANTED ! WANTED!

WANTED ' Bassa' for killing. Our Bassa?

Dr. Balasuriya related a different story when police headquarters called a second press conference the following day to explain the progress of the ongoing investigation, MP Dissanayake said. The IGP had identified the killer as a JVP activist known as Basnayake (Bassa) and went on to suggest that Bandara s death was due to assault, MP Dissanayake said, adding that the JVP would like to know whether the police felt that Badulla JMO was wrong.

Will this Envoy get Visa from Stinkalese ?

After all this is 'International Interference' in the internal affairs of a 'Sovereign Independent State' !

India is deputing a senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs to Sri Lanka to assess the progress of restoration of normal life in Tamil-dominated northern and eastern parts of the island at the end of the war against LTTE.

Prime minister Manmohan Singh has conveyed this in a letter to Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi who had recently urged him to send a special envoy to assess the 'real situation' in the Tamil areas.

'As a measure of our continuing interest and the importance that we attach to this (Tamils) issue, I am sending a senior official from the Ministry of External Affairs to visit Sri Lanka and to consult with our High Commissioner and the local authorities, visiting the northern and eastern provinces to measure progress in these areas,' Singh said.

A copy of Singh's letter, in response to Karunanidhi's July 17 missive expressing concern over the slow progress of the rehabilitation measures for the ethnic Tamils, was released to the media in Chennai.

The Police has still not taken steps to record a statement of the Appeal Court judge who is allegedly involved in the molestation of a young servant girl working in the Judge s house.

Under the SL constitution all citizens except the President (under certain circumstances) are subject to the laws of the country. In the legal circles, it was pointed out that judges are not above the law. Even the Appeal Court judge must abide by the law. Hence, if the Police is not interrogating the Appeal Court judge in relation to a crime committed by him, it is a breakdown in the legal process and creating a dent in the legal system, those of the legal profession pinpoint.
