The Air Force Regiment troops based at the Trikonamadu, commanded by Squadron Leader Vajira Senadeera, recovered two caches of arms on 15th and 19th July from the general area of Iranapallai, Pudukuduirippu, a press release issued by the SLAF said. The recoveries were made possible after SLAF Intelligence personnel obtained the assistance of rehabilitated ex LTTE cadres. Pilot Officer PSDD Rupasinghe conducted both successful clearance operations.
The recovered items are as follows (on 15th July) 750 of 32X 7.62mm ammunition, two 120 mm Mortar Bombs, eight 81mm Mortar Smoke bombs, four 81mm Mortar bombs, three 60mm Mortar bombs, five LTTE Made Air Craft bombs, six 40mm RPG bombs, two Hand Grenades, two 120mm mortar fuses, two LTTE made 40mm mortars, 50 pressure switches, 49 pressure releases, and 70 instantiation fuses. On 19 July they recovered 100 kg of C-4 explosive, 90 Kg of RDX explosive, 25 kg of low explosive, 100 kg of propellant tube form explosive, 14 claymore mines, three anti tank mines, eleven 81 mm mortar smoke bombs, ten 81mm mortar incendiary bombs, 20 81mm mortar trapping bombs, 15 40mm RPG bombs, 8090 units of 7.62x MPMG Ammo, 1500 units of 7.62X 212 Ammo, 96 units of 14mm Ammo, two LTTE made hand grenades, one LTTE made rocket bombs, 28 pressure switches, 29 pressure release switches, and 500 g of gun powder.
