A ship carrying over 200 Sri Lankan migrants including hardcore leaders of the Tamil Tigers is on its way to the B.C. coast, according to Sri Lanka s Sunday Observer.

But David Poopalapillai of the Canadian-Tamil Congress cautioned Canadians against believing the state-owned paper s claim that terrorists are aboard the MV Sun Sea, last spotted in the Gulf of Thailand two weeks ago.

We should not jump the gun, said Poopalapillai. The Sri Lankan government brands all Tamils as terrorists. If they come, they should be given due process.

Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ambra Dickie said it is aware of media reports about the vessel, but was unable to confirm the ship s current whereabouts.

Poopalapillai said the Canadian-Tamil community is shocked to hear reports of another people-smuggling ship because we do not want people to risk their lives on this treacherous journey.

Tamils remain a persecuted minority in Sri Lanka, he said, and many consider Canada a safe haven.

Last year, a vessel arrived off the B.C. coast with 76 asylum seekers. Immigration officials had voiced concerns they might be Tamil Tigers but later dropped those allegations.

These remnants of the butcher tigers sneak to foreign countries disguised as 'innocent' Tamils.... he! he!!
The GOSL never branded all Tamils as terrorists, but all terrorists are Tamils, as all know....

Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ambra Dickie said it is aware of media reports about the vessel, but was unable to confirm the ship s current whereabouts.

In the past, during the war, Tamil tiger butcher terrorists attacked so many ships carrying armed soldiers returning home for holidays or even unarmed civilians.
Perhaps this ship has got a similar fate and must be resting on the sea bed....
Who knows..anything can happen these days!!

A big typing mistake has occured and I could not correct it as time limit has depassed...
PLEASE READ the 7th line as:
'carrying UNARMED soldiers....' instead of 'carrying ARMED soldiers'.
The contributor extends his excuses for this mistake.

As the case has been in the past, Canada must be looking egarly welcome to another shipment of garbage full of cheap labour, desregarding any advise from RCMP or CBSA. Poopalapillai knows it too well and is laying the foudation for his case.

The civil servant who claims this has not visited the ship and yet try to propagate the govt views. This is the racist propaganda of the racist govt run newspaper.

If Canadian government is not cooperative with SL to solve this problem one day Canada will be another battle field soon. Many LTTE hardcore who arrived past to Canada already create problems to Canadian tax payers. I don't think present Harper govt in Canada will treat these hardcore as previous Liberal govt.

I don't think they need 50 years. The day, that they claim they were the aboriginals of Canada, and it was they who greeted the early exploreres 'ENNADA?' and that is how the name 'Canada' (derived from the word ENNADA) came into being, cannot be very far.

And people like David Poopalapillai know it only too well that some Canadian Politicians are more interested in getting cheap labour into the country and collecting money, in way of taxes, from those who cross the border, than security of the country.
