This WW guy seems to have been well fed, prior to his drama started... thus, even without the assumption he would gobble up some goodies in the whee hours under the darkness, he could easily go on 6 months....or many be 7 months...!

If he goes on breathing more than 7 months, then there is a good chance he cheated...!

If his condition becomes really really bad withing a few days, that means he is pretending and he is cheating the public...!

If is body gradually weakens and then GONE close to 6 months, there is a good chance that he was honest and gave his life for what he believed...!
