MP Gen. Sarath Fonseka, the former Army chief, says he, and not ``those jokers making a false front against Ban ki-Moon``, will be the first to fall into trouble if false evidence is given in support of allegations that war crimes had been committed in Sri Lanka.
Speaking to the media at the Parliamentary Complex today (July 08), he made references to the fast-unto-death launched by NFF leader and cabinet minister Wimal Weerawansa against the UN-appointed panel on the island.
Gen. Fonseka reiterated that he, as the commander who had led the forces in the fight against the LTTE, would be fully accountable to everything that had taken place during the war.
No war crimes had been committed and the battle was conducted in accordance with international norms, he said, adding that ``jokers were trying to give the impression that such things had actually taken place.``
Alleging that such protests were being conducted to gain political advantage, Gen. Fonseka said he was, and continue to be a patriot who had fought for the country.

| He is turning out to be the biggest 'JOKER' of the pack. Every time he opens his mouth, of course depends on who is asking & who he is targeting, his replies change, a true sign of a corrupt politician ! Sadly he has disgraced his uniform & the respect he had when he wore it as a true soldier of our great country. Now he is in a dustbin out of sheer expediency, economic & political benefits utters conflicting statements. He seems to have already forgotten how he accused serving respected soldiers who really led the war in the battle front of taking orders from others to commit war crimes by shooting civilians carrying white flags. He purposely avoids talking about them now for his own convenience now that his actions are being probed the bu the legal system of the land & more over he not on election platform greedily waiting to capture power from his own bosses. |

| If he is a true patriot, what he should do is to call for an urgent press conference at the parliament itself & declare to the diplo-muts, specially the US,UK,EU,UN kind & explain this to them with a guarantee of an affidavit that he takes full & complete responsibility for any war crimes if ever committed by his soldiers when he was the commander & no politician or civilan had interfered nor responsible in the battle against terrorism with complete assurance that all action on the battle field was ordered by him alone or with the other service commanders. I challenge him to do this to prove his superior patriotism compared to Weerawansa. Innocent people of this country deserve at least this favour from him to put an end to foreign interventions of every kind sponsored & maybe even funded by the tiger diaspora with all the monies they have horded to promote killings & violence in Sri Lanka for almost 3 decades, merely to achieve a pipe dream of achieving eeleam by dividing this smallcountry. |

Even before SF said the same. and he's brave, also he knows what he is talking about. why not give him that chance to make it clear to the world that our Soldiors did not violate Human rights? why lik idiots labling SF is this and that and making another Drama.true he is a politician now but a decent and honest politician than many of the Ministers and MP's in the parlierment. why not give him a chance to prove without jabbering like fools and labling him? after all, so sad all the fools who critizises SF has forgotten that he led the Army to defete LTTE and ended the war. I'm not even surprised because Sinhala people are famouse for ' Forgetting things easilly and so fast'
