Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Lanka Jayaratne allowed an application by HICORP (Pvt) Limited Director Wellington Dehoedt to make a confession before the Judge.
Allowing the application by Counsel Sameera Panditharatne, the Judge directed Dehoedt to make his confession before the Judge in the chambers on March 31.
On an application by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigating the alleged arms deal by General Sarath Fonseka s son-in-law, Danuna Tillekeratne, the Judge reissued a warrant for Tillekeratne s arrest who is evading arrest. He also further remanded Dehoedt till March 31.
Chief Inspector Mohan Siriwardena of the CID said a special CID team had searched several places where Tillekeratne was alleged to have been living. Investigations had also revealed that he had left the country.
CID said investigations into the alleged arms deal had not been completed. Chief Inspector Siriwardena said the Director had forwarded several forged documents to the Army to obtain the contract to his company. The CID will submit a comprehensive report in connection with their investigations to Court on the next date.
The case will be called again on March 31.
