Lankan News Replies

The Sri Lankan Government has decided to issue citizenship certificates to over 400 children of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) born during their displacement in India at the time of the country`s civil war which ended four months ago.

Two programmes will be held in Vavuniya and Mannar next week to provide citizenship to over 400 IDP children who were born in India and do not possess Sri Lankan citizenship, the state-owned Daily News reported.

The citizenship certificate is a prerequisite for obtaining a National Identity Card (NIC), which plays a pivotal role in exercising person`s rights, including the freedom of movement.

Without this, most IDP children who have returned from India face difficulties in sitting for examinations like the GCE - Ordinary Level and Advanced Level - for which the NIC is considered the exclusive proof of identity.

People become Kallathonis only when they don't respect the country they were nourished. We can clearly see the kind of people in this forum who belong to that category.

We all believe this.

they will be the get free education and be successful in it with favourations and then will be the first to migrate overseas for better opportunities. From their they will work for separate country and complain about standardization and more.

Two best examples are SJVC came to Sri Lanka when he was 04 years old from Malaysia.

NALE came to Sri Lanka from BURMA when two years old.

Both of them paid dues to Sri Lanka.

This should not be this costly at all.

IT is very possible some one is trying to Steal money from the govt in very large scale.

To set up a few Fermenters and to grow the cultures cannot be that expensive EXCEPT the initial capital cost.

Sri Lanka has required man power for this.
