Let`s protect CULTURE, elephants can take care of themselves

Saturday, 26 September 2009 - 11:25 AM SL Time

Sri Lankans get so pi$$ed when someone is trying to question our CULTURAL VALUES and our love to Buddhism. With all due respect to the good cultural values and the great philosophy we follow (or at least use to cover our sins using them as a white sheet), we have to think deeply `are we really protecting these values?`.

Take the stories of Kapila and the two tuskers who were ABDUCTED from their mother`s warmth for an example. Did the leaders stand for what they CRY OUT LOUD 24/7 to protect? This country waged a war and we fought against an outfit who abduct children from thier parent`s protection. Then it was sad to see what happened to those two baby elephants amidst the protest from a nation. The criminals who did this went all out on national tv talking about a conspiracy against BUDDHISM and our CULTURE. Yes that was the most sensitive white paint they could find.

We have a section of so called PURE BUDDHISTS, and protectors of these CULTURAL VALUES who self appoint themselves for that post. They MISUSE Buddhism for their personal gains. We had a CJ who called himself a TRUE BUDDHIST and protector of CULTURE who hid behind a temple saying that its a conspiracy against BUDDHISM when he was caught while having sex in a public place with a young lawyer. The charges against him were dropped because it was a sensitive matter as his dragged Buddhism to cover his sins. Later the same CJ was charged of ILLEGALLY arranging a room in high court building to a beautiful secratery.
The same way Nilanga Dela Bandara got away with his sins with the blessings of Asgiriya Malwatte temples because he dragged Buddhism to protect himself.

This picture shows `Kapila` a few days before his death due to malnutrition. He was 17 years old and gifted to a temple by Joseph Michael Perera. Probaly Joseph Michael Perera thought of going to heaven by donating a national asset to a temple, like all our good leaders do. But he should know that he is involved in the tragic death of this majestic creature.

This event MUST be an eye opener for all the Sri Lankans. Don`t let the crooks misuse your religion and your culture. Don`t let them misuse these terms to cover their sins. Protect these innocent animals and stop donating them to temples. Make a group of elephanst and keep them in Pinnawela under good care so they can be used for religious events. The best thing about it is that they can be more healthy and they can make babies there.

Over to you president and all the Sri Lankans who TRULY value our culture.

This is deplorable. I heard that someone involved with the two baby elephants has been ordered to go to court. Is it true?

UVR,

It is good that you have realized this. Buddhism is a great religion and there are many good Buddhists in Sri Lanka, but institutional Buddhism in Sri Lanka is rotten to the core.

Amigo..... How must we ban Buddhist monks of any participation in politics and power ??

Take the history of the Catholic Church, Popes have participated in GENOCIDE.
Take Sri Lanka, Rayappus, Savundranayakams, Pathinathar & there are host of others, in their cassoacks their priority is to take care of their HERITAGE that they supported the Sun Goat & the LTTE.

Vatican and the Catholic Church are filthy rich and corrupt to the core. Evangelisation goes hand in glove with power.

HQ of the Catholic Church should have been in Jerusalem and not in Rome in the first place.

How was a Vatican Banker found dead under a bridge in England and how much did vatican pay to the unknown to retreive his brief case and why ??

let the Buddhist Monks decide for themselves what is right?

UVR,

This majestic animal will go in to extinction at this rate, mostly due to poaching. It is the poaching that should stop and clearance of their habitat for commercial gains. When multi-national companies come to Sri Lanka in future for sure they would want to have some precious forests cleared.

Over to you president and all the Sri Lankans who TRULY value our culture.

I think he should resign :))))

Samanj,
Take the history of the Catholic Church, Popes have participated in GENOCIDE.

can you please explain which pope participated in which GENOCIDE????

Vatican and the Catholic Church are filthy rich and corrupt to the core.

on what basis did you come to this conclusion??? the people make donations it does not mean the Vatican is corrupt... let me tell you the church has more than a billion members and if each member gave one dollar each as donations of course the Vatican is going to be rich. but these funds are used for good causes.... but do keep in mind that if some one has the idea of the church being able to wipe off world hunger that is ridiculous.. the church has a lot of members from a lot of countries that fund the church.... this is due to the peoples strong faith on Christianity..

HQ of the Catholic Church should have been in Jerusalem and not in Rome in the first place.

well not necessarily but true there are still attempts on this issue....

How was a Vatican Banker found dead under a bridge in England and how much did vatican pay to the unknown to retreive his brief case and why ??

these are conspiracy stories made up by certain elements.. I m not saying his whole death was related to suicide.. it was proven that he was murdered.. but there is no proof that the church got to do with anything with his murder... and nor there is proof that church paid money for some briefcase of Calvis...and it is known that he had dealings with the Mafia and the Italian Free Masons... but there were 5 members of the Mafia was on trial...

finally you trying to compare the Vaticans affairs to Buddhism in Sri Lanka is just pathetic.. what Amigo said was how religeon should stay out of politics... I m not justifying all the church's and Varticans activities... but you trying to counter Amigos argument by bringing in another religion is kind of childish...LOL... specially how Popes took part in Genocide....
