Sri Lanka and Myanmar agreed to continue joint and separate actions to curb terrorism that is threatening the regional peace and security and improve the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The two countries agreed to cooperate both bilaterally and at regional and multilateral fora in this regard during the during the second Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Sri Lanka and Myanmar was held in Colombo yesterday (Aug 04).
During the meeting, Myanmar`s Minister for Foreign Affairs, U Nyan Win reaffirmed his government`s policy of not allowing any group or individual to use its territory for hostile acts against Sri Lanka. Both sides agreed to coordinate measures against such activity on their territories through relevant agencies.
Sri Lanka pointed out that lack of direct sea and air links between the two countries has hampered trade between the two countries and the two sides agreed to find ways to remove the existing trade barriers and promote bilateral trade.

Rohitha Bogollagama leading the Sri Lankan delegation invited Myanmar business community to explore possibilities of investing in Sri Lanka taking advantage of the benefits granted under Sri Lanka`s bilateral Free Trade Agreements with
India and
Pakistan.
