It is strange that guys in USA write some thing not English. Rassian or what??
Nothing strange...I admire it..Then the same argument can bring to we Sri lankans, as English is not our mother language...It's pity that we don't speak tamil too.

Magha,
Any way it had been scientifically proven that Tamils of SRI Lanka (Jaffna Tamils) derived from Singhalese.
They are certainly closely related, not sure about the derived part. Due to southern land is more cultivatable, and invasions from India to the Northern Lanka etc, there is more chance northern tamils will move south to become southern Sinhalese. It is even happening today due to economic reasons.
Genetically they have less genes of South Indian Tamils but more of Sinhalese
Agreed. This is due to the fact SL Tamils and Sinhalese have common south indian ancestry ( TN and Kerala). Also due to the fact SL Tamils becoming Sinhalese over time. Note: Bengali gene is not dominant among Sinhalese, but it is certainly there.
There is query for you, food pittu only exist among SL Tamils, Sinhalese and Keralites (Malayalis). It doesn t exist in TN.
Surname finishing with KONE and KOON ( which are common among SL tamils and Sinhalese) have Kerala origin. Eg: Thennakoon, Samarakone.
That may point to partial Kerala ancestry for SL Tamils and Sinhalese.
Separate note: Ellalans ( Elara) soldiers descendants could be Sinhalese today. |

Iross...
The obvious inference is that the so called Singhalese adopted the Tamil Language living in the North due to various Tamil invasions occurred through out the history and had become Tamils
What do you say abt this....This was proven case in the Mannr region where the sinhalese were forced to speak tamil by the tamil kings! It is in the history also!
Can somebody say who are 'harijana Sinhalese'....Answer lies there!
BTW..
Genetically they have less genes of South Indian Tamils but more of Sinhalese
u say...
Agreed.
Then again you r saying
This is due to the fact SL Tamils and Sinhalese have common south indian ancestry ( TN and Kerala).
:))))))
contradicting your words!!

If I'm not mistaken, all humans have the same number of Genes.. and there is nor way that we can prove a human is tamil or sinhala by looking at the genes.

LOL LOL LOL !
Says Who ? Cabrral himself & not IMF !
is he trying to pep up the Stock market with Speculation again ?
:-))
The latest on the US$ 1.9 billion IMF standby facility is that the IMF s Director General had assured Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal that it would come through.
'The Director General of the IMF has given me his personal assurance that based on considerations of economic principles, Sri Lanka would get the loan,' Cabraal told the Sri Lanka Economic Summit last morning.
'We are sure it would come through and it would not take a long time, in a few weeks time perhaps. The IMF does not want to embarrass itself by denying the facility because we should get it purely based on the technical evaluations,' he said.
Cabraal said the IMF loan was expected to come though last April to help buffer what he called a 'perceived' balance of payments crisis.
'It did not come in April (as expected) so we have so far weathered it out. The need for it now is not as great back then with foreign currency flows coming in after the end of the war,' he said.
'However, we would still like to have it as an anchor in these tough times,' Cabraal said.
The US is delaying the IMF facility based on political considerations which is not in the IMF s mandate.
'Sri Lanka is a member of the IMF and we have a right to a loan, especially since the difficulties our economy had to face were caused by others,' Cabraal said alluding to the global financial crisis and its origins in the US.

What the hell if we we were aryans ,Dravidans , mongolids and what not? Our basic requirments remains the same.
The dialectical process of develpement of societies took a long time . As Neelan Thiruchelvam said we Sri Lankans have been in a state of a 'convivencia' meaning that understanding had been achieved after years of fighting , invasions ,misunderstanding to coexist when Portugese invaded and turned the peace existed around for political and religious gains introducing a new doctrine for this country the Catholisim .Catholism was very sucessful in breaking the convivenca for the sake of European Colonial occupation. During the various E
At the end of 400 years of European Colonialism we were forced to to distinguish our society in terms of Language we spoke as well as the religion we beleive when Buddhism and Hinduism had already been conceptualised in to a very harmonic phase over hundred's of years in Sri Lankan history.. |
