With the dawn of the post war era, Japanese government representative, Yasushi Akashi said that Sri Lanka s quantum leap in the economy is about to begin. The country is poised to begin a brilliant and rewarding chapter in its economic history. Sri Lanka will come out of the recessionary period in the wake of the easing of the economy on the domestic front, with 11.1% forecast for inflation for 2010, an HSBC lead economist said yesterday in Colombo.
Inflation dipped to 0.9%, compared to the previous month's 3.3%, on an annual average basis. The June figure indicates a change of 12.5% compared to the same period in 2008.
