Tamil healing touch for Lanka
- India to fund Siddha faculty on erstwhile Tiger terrain
JAYANTH JACOB

New Delhi, June 29: If symbolism can heal wounds, this one should rank top.

India plans to open a centre for the ancient Tamil medicine system, Siddha, in a Sri Lankan university whose growth was stunted by the civil war.

As New Delhi prepares to firm up ties with Colombo post-LTTE, it has decided to foot the entire bill for the establishment of the faculty, to be located on the Trincomalee campus of Eastern University. The Indian high commission in Colombo has already issued tenders for the required infrastructure.

Eg: Whole unit is banned and arrested because of some illegal activity. Beleive me, anything can be deffinedd illegal..

Eg: Whole unit become out of control and engage in crimes

You might be right, but it is a complex issue. If you mix them up with sinhala speaking soldiers, they could be subject to harassment. I dont know how they are doing it in india with madras regiment, punjab regiment etc.

I am not aware of any other developing country that has faced such a dire challenge and emerged with significant results, Akashi said commenting on the Government s response to the humanitarian crisis in the North at a premier business forum yesterday
And it is rare to find a more beautiful, more natural resource filled, more warm hearted and more talented country like Sri Lanka in the world where even despite the violent conflict that people had to endure, everyone is coming together to rebuild the nation, he said at the inauguration of Ceylon Chamber organised two and half day Sri Lanka Economic Summit titled Dawning of a new era: Opportunities and Challenges.

An angry President yesterday warned Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka not to hinder his efforts to implement 13th Amendment to the Constitution and guarantee devolution of power to the provinces. Now that a 30-year war had been brought to an end, the aspirations of the people of the North and East should be met, he told a group of government ministers at Temple Trees yesterday, according to highly placed sources.

Referring to Ranawaka s threat to quit his government over the proposed full implementation of the 13th Amendment, the President said that he would do his job. 'I ll look after the rest, too,' he said, urging leaders of constituent parties to have faith in him. He said that if they did their job, the government could go ahead with its programme.

Political sources said that the President had reacted angrily to Ranawaka s threat to quit the government. President indicated that he wouldn t give in to pressure from any party.

Rasak,

Since it doesn't change anything for you.
Even after enforcing it you are free to think that it is not yet done.
