Sri Lanka Foreign Minister spent Rs. 100 million for his foreign tours
Wed, Jun 24, 2009, 07:11 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.
June 24, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister, Rohitha Bogollagama, who crossed-over from the opposition, has spent Rs. 100 millions for his foreign tours in the last one and half years.

Responding to a question raised by the Marxist parliamentarian Premasiri Manage, Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama told the House this morning that he has toured 25 countries since January 2008.

He said that the main objective of those foreign trips was to create a clear standpoint against the terrorism, especially against the defeated LTTE, among the international community.

Additionally, Sri Lanka has obtained more economic profits as a nation by these 25 foriegn tours, Foreign Minister Bogollagama said.

Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama was the main character in the Sri Lankan government who toured more foriegn countries during the last few years, even more than President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

President Rajapaksa has visited only 15 countries in his last 19 foreign tours since he was elected as the President in 2005.

Roshan.
DM says this.. meaning both these artciles are wrong.

Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama has spent Rs. 10 million since January, 2008 to travel in 25 countries.

The Minister made this revelation in response to a question by JVP MP Premasiri Manage.Mr. Bogollagama said that his Ministry had to do a great service in countering terrorism in the international arena. He said that Sri Lanka was also able to gain recognition in leading world bodies such as the Non-Aligned Movement, SAARC and the Shanghai Co-operation Organization as a result of his visits.

Aiyo....What economy still bad!

I'm fine..now..the die hard 'Dear firend' avoids me, for his own safety....

I had no other option except respond with the same language he understands..as it was going over the limit! Tried to avoid, in previous instances but his grudge on me was too high, reasons known to him. The inconvenience caused to guys at LNP, is regretted!

Pannacotta,

Somebody added or subtracted a Zero.

Both news says 25 trips in 2008.
If 100 million each trip Rs 4million about US$ 35,000
If 10 million each trip Rs 4 lakhs about US$3,500.

A business class air ticket alone to Europe will cost more than US$ 3,500.

So Rs 100million is more likely.
