You seems to be living in Japan, people are very polite there.
It's true. I meet Japanese almost everyday. They are very nice and polite (most of them). They always smile and put down their head as a mark of respect. Koreans are like Japanese. Chinese are bit different. They don't smile and most don't understand English..

Languages are living things and changes according to the time.
I am not specialized in History to argue on who came when and so on, but, Sinhala must have been changed considerably from its very early form, with the time.
The religion, island character, language, all these formed the Sinhala nation considerably unique in the island. But, I think, historians are discussing all possibilities about mixing-up with other people.
Today, I think, we get no help by keep arguing these historical facts. The global political system and majority Sinhala presence are not favorable to separate Sri Lanka on ethnic lines. By force or by peace. The best solution we have in front of us.
