Those voted in favour for JRs referendum on extension, later lamented.

Power corrupts. Giving absolute power make it even worse.

Rajapakse had one bullet in his 'cupboard' and he fired it and the LTTE and it's Leaders vaquished. He had no other plans to really bring a lastable solution to the Tamil grieviences nor to devoloped the country. The sinhalese are well and truly brain washed. Look at his 'Mahinda Chintanaya' in detail. Those proposals are inpractibleand/or implimented because the Country is in dire straits economically and finanacially. Mahinda Chintanaya was drawn to win the elcetion by hook or by crook. The history shows thar now. He has no mental capacity and the knowledge nor a Team to build up the economy. He and his Brothers has the Braun and nto Brains to run a country for it's economic groweth. The only Team that is working now are the (still)the UNPs in his cabinet. Only stumbling nlock is Ranil for them to go back to where they came from. Otherwise why are they sticking on to the Tag. Supreme court hhas given a ruling to the effect that they cannot be removed from the Parliament having crossed over A Presidential election should be held and Rajapakse should be sent home. A common Candidate should be put into contest him. A good Buddhist and a practicable thinking and a flexible to other minorites should be looked into. My my mind comes to a person like the calibre of our ecently retired Chief Justice, who has even the respect of the LTTE will be a good choice

I think, ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS? What happened to Winston Churchill should happen here, during war he was needed but after that he was sent home gracefully... why should not this happen to Mr. Mahinda?

Ha...Ha...These are the ploys of those who are now so afraid to face elections of any type. Why would anyone stay away from contesting a natural born loser?

Elections must be held on time.

You can't say 'no plans' because he has a plan: 'Mahinda Chinthana'. All he has done so far is removing the obstacles before him to execute other plans. So one must give him time. He has almost two years remaining in his first term.

Slowly falling back to political politics. There is no time for this. More urgent things need to be addressed, such as IDPs future and the peace process.

I cannot understand son of original SLFP KIVIKOLA Tikiri Banda's son making such a statement or planning such a move. This shows how corrupt the present day politicians with POWER This mainly these are worried and fear of elections. Where President Mihinda is sure of his second term this is only for these type of corrupt fellows. Best is President to call Parliamentary elections and chase all these Jokers including 16 from UNP.

Hikz i was reading all the posts funny thing was noone was giving any facts to support or oppose this move.lets see how much money its gonna cost for presidential election? i dont know. do we have this much money? lets see IF mahinda contests are there any real defendent for him? i dont think so. but in democratic terms you cannot do that. so i guess finally its better to keep the elections . anyway there s no opposition at all to contest.most of them are rejected by the mass and they cant face any election what so ever b becasue of the shame they have done to the country as traitors.
