No tamils in the armed forces - SLDF
Communal violence is common in many countries including much developed West, but predominantly in India,Tamils historically provoked communal violence which lead to their self destruction.
When Tamils respect and begin to love their country, they will be accommodated into National Forces...:-) |

There is no need to suppress the Presidential Election in order to let Mahinda Rajapaksha to continue as the Executive President for another term of office.
He is the best President Sri Lanka has ever had: recent events in eliminating tiger butcher terrorists have shown his ability to perform his duties as the President for another term!
If there is a Presidential poll today he will win without any doubt.
It will be a one horse race!
Presidential poll or a referendum will cost a huge amount of money, which the country needs at this crucial moment.
On the other hand, if the poll is scrapped, Mahinda Rajapaksha will be considered and cornered as a Dictator by the International Community, like in Myanmar, Egypt, Libya.... some of our friendly states.
In his own interest and that of the country, Mahinda Rajapaksha should face the Presidential election at the end of his term of office.
There is no other opposition candidate for this top job...
He should have no fears!
He will definitely win with an increased majority!

Iross,
1955,77,83 riots
Nobody is proud of them but they were always a knee jerk reaction to something else that took place at the time. I.e. they weren't pre-planned.
1955 Sinhala only law
This was corrected by 60s. In contrast the Australian 'White only' policy ended only in 73.
1974 tamil conference killings
Again nobody is proud of this but it was riot control gone wrong.
1981 Jaffna library burning
Political motives
No tamils in the armed forces - SLDF
There were high ranking tamil officers in the army for some time even after 83 but not much after for obvious reasons.
Proportional representation system for UNI entries
This could've only been solved by development and more universities. Its based on district population and the govt's did not impose on any ethnicity to control its population. |
