The British FORUT staffer that Ms. Above Board was trying to smuggle into the country disguised as a tourist, Simon Weatherbed (a close friend of the TRO s pro-LTTE head, Arjunan Ethirveerasingham) set up training schools for LTTE cadres in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu, under the pretext of giving them vocational training . FORUT used neutral names, of course they were just carrying out human resource development programmes . These programmes were coordinated with Thamilselvan and Pulidevan of the LTTE.

Chennai port authorities say adequate drinking water has been provided to the crew of 'Captain Ali' amid reports that the crew had no fresh water on board the vessel now anchored near Chennai after it was turned away by Sri lanka.

The vessel with relief supplies sent by Tamil diaspora set sail from Britain in April to Sri Lanka.

'We have provided 200 litres of drinking water to them,' Chennai Post Trust chairman K Suresh said.

'The sailors in the vessel wanted to unload the cargo, but for unloading they need to get the customs approval and also require client,'he said.

According to the Lankan Navy, the ship was turned away on the ground that it violated internationally accepted formalities followed by merchant ships seeking to enter Lankan waters and that it did not conform to the International Ships Port Facility Security (ISPS) code. (PTI)

Canadian Tiger supporter loses extradition appeal



A student of the University of Waterloo in Canada has lost his appeal to avoid extradition to the United States on charges he supported the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) terrorist group.

The Ontario Court of Appeal ruled that Ramanan Mylvaganam, who is in his early 30s and from Malton, Ont., very likely knew he was assisting the group.

In the decision, three judges said it could be 'reasonably inferred' that Mylvaganam 'knew he was assisting the LTTE for the prohibited purposes.'

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam, declared a terrorist organization by the U. S. in 1997 and by Canada in 2006, had been fighting for an independent homeland in Sri Lanka until the resistance was crushed last month. (The whig)
