But I like to point out there are more than enough Sinhalese political leaders who are murderers and thugs. Remember the 1983 riots, burning of Jaffna library etc.

June 19, 2009 (LBO) Sri Lanka has repaid 125 million US dollars from a dollar loan arranged by Standard Chartered Bank last year, as lenders exercised an option, Central Bank Governor Nivard Cabraal said.
'They (lenders) wanted 125 million and we have repaid them,' Cabraal said.
'We had no problem paying them back,' Cabraal said. The Central Bank has since been wallowing in dollars.
From March to June 17m, the monetary authority has bought 378 million US dollars, giving in enough foreign exchange to meet external fiscal obligations. |

agreed. We have in fact too much of those undesirables. But they are a product of the circumstances this country had for the last 30 years.
Remember the 1983 riots, burning of Jaffna library etc.
Banging old dilapidated drums will not be conducive to the way forward.
Jaffna Library = Temple of the Tooth. Debt paid. Get over it.
1983 Riots = X amount of Civilian massacres by the LTTE. Debt paid. Get over it. |

Sonia when she tried to become Prime Minister was blocked by President Abdul Kalam in 1993 & was forced to Choose Manmohan Singh after making noises abt 'Inner Voice' !

No they are not. But certain elements within are.
We all saw how Kadirgamar was Screwed by JVP & JHU just becasue he was a tamil & was denied PM even after strong backing by Chandrika !
It was cheap politics. LKR was a master of politics and diplomacy. Yet, neither JHU nor JVP sought to have him killed. That's the what matters. It was the LTTE, the Liberation Tigers of TAMIL eelam, the self proclaimed Liberators of TAMILS, the self proclaimed representative of TAMILs who put 2 bullets in him ending a power house of diplomacy, intelligence and humanity.
All the remaining Tamils in earth can't add up that man's intelligence. |

Can our Accounts Student SlMate explain why GOSL got a loan for 150 Million USD in June 2008 had to pay 125 Million USD this June 2009 & had to pay the same amount twice in next two years ?
What kind of Interest does this work out to ?

The Standard Chartered arranged a 150 million US dollar loan on June 13, under 'club deal' priced at 250 basis points above the London Interbank Offered Rate.
'They (lenders) wanted 125 million and we have repaid them,' Cabraal said.
The 3-yearl loan had an option for lenders to get the cash at the end of each year.
