Sri Lanka's Central Bank eases Forex rates to stimulate economic activity in the North

June 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Central Bank said on Tuesday it has decided to relax its monetary policy stance by reducing the Bank's Repurchase rate to 8.50 percent and the Reverse Repurchase rate to11.00 percent, with immediate effect.
'Today's reduction of the Central Bank's policy rates would help ease conditions in domestic credit markets further and thereby bring down market interest rates, facilitating an increased flow of credit,' the Bank said in a press release.
The CB said today's decision to lower the rates will support the new economic activity expected to be generated by the reconstruction and development work in the recently liberated areas of the North.
'The positive developments that took place in the recent period has uplifted the growth prospects for Sri Lanka as immediately reflected in the healthy developments in market sentiments, ' the CB said. |

unemployed and people in grands of debt have more chance of helping Tamils than GOSL
Well it is a matter of opinion. Right now it is the GOSL that is helping the Tamils in IDPs. It is also MOda chingalaya organisations that are collecting donations to be delivered to tamils in IDPs. It is also the GOSL that kept Tamils in the North east of Sri lanka employed in govt institutions and continued to pay their salaries even during the times of terrirism. (Of course they need to be paid and there is no question)
it is also the GOSL which keeps universities, rtechnical colleges etc funded. It is indeed the GOSL which keeps other infrastructure (whatever is left) funded.
It is NOT the diaspora terrorists who are taking care of these people. Sorrryyyy

No Petrol Diesel price hike in IOC

There will be no price hike in petrol and diesel marketed by Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) though the company yesterday requested the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to grant approval for a price increase, Secretary to the Ministry, W.B. Ganegala said.

why are TMVP and EPDP in camps abducting children 11 - 17 yrs of age

While the experienced persons are playing havoc with Colombo Stock exchange, it is Stupid accounts students like SLMate who go bonkers abt Stock indices !

LTTE activities made Tamils and Muslims suffer than Sinhalese, however people like yourself like to use LTTE to further deny basic rights of Tamils. So dont try and be smart
As I said many times diaspora can help when international aid orgs like UNHCR, ICRC and Oxfam have unrestricted access. Is that difficult for you to understand? |
