The time is not far away before you can say 'BYE BYE' to your belowed 'Queen and Country'. Who knows, one day the Royal Family might be compelled to return all their 'stolen' artifacts, diamonds, and jewelry to the Asian and African countries (including China, India and Sri Lanka). The ascendancy of China, India and Brazil cannot be stopped. The commodity exporting states (and centers of food production) that are linked to China, ASEAN states, and India will do well in the new emerging world order. The EU states (especially UK) and the United States know this well.
It is very correct for Mahinda Rajapakse to align Sri Lanka with the fortunes of China, India and other Asian states. These countries will be the in the driver's seat for the global economy, for decades to come. Until, we end up depleting the planet's finite resources (at which point, wars and famine will dictate another world order).
For now, other than as export markets, and for source of investment capital, Sri Lanka does not really need to depend on EU, the United States and Canada.
I am not as naive as you think. Behind the scenes, I might have had a hand in bringing about the current situation in Sri Lanka. No one will ever know (one person how might know is dead - Neelan Thiruchelvam. The other person who is alive is in detention in the North). Ha ha .... Everything I had written since 2006 have proven to be true. Now, I am working on the future script for Sri Lanka.
