Adzam:
In fact this was what happened to Ainu people who used to live in northern part of Japan. It is said that they are still living, but they don't want to tell that they are Ainu because of racial discrimination in Japan.
In Sri Lanka, Tamils are not a minority. JUst 20 Km s awya in TamilNAdu Tamil culture is thriving.
It is Tamil culture and other major religions that are squeezing Sinhala - buddhist culture.
IF you take from the beginning it is that Sinhala - buddhist culture which is disappearing and people are trying to oppress.
Talking the word Sinhala is Racist. Every other thing is democracy. |

Why the heck the sri lankans want to say they are tamils. Now there are no races in Sri Lanka, Only Sri Lankans and other nationals.
At any place, the race is not to be asked, and not to be included.. then how come a person get discrimination.
If you are speaking a different language, better learn the majority language as the documents will be in that language |

Making Journalists to Flee in large Numbers is a world record for Srilanka !
They can be Proud of that !
Human rights groups called on Thursday for an international investigation into wartime abuses in Sri Lanka, saying the government lacks the political will to investigate the incidents on its own.
Rights groups accused the government of firing heavy weapons into civilian areas in the final months of this island nation's quarter century civil war, which ended last month.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa told U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon the government would look into abuse claims itself, but Human Rights Watch said Sri Lanka's decision to shut down a presidential inquiry into earlier abuses proved it had little intention of pursuing justice.
The group said that despite tens of thousands of cases of rights violations, including enforced disappearances and unlawful killings, there have only been a small number of prosecutions.
Meanwhile, the New York-based Committee to Protect journalists said at least 11 Sri Lankan reporters were forced to flee the country in the past year amid a government crackdown on dissent.
A total of 39 journalists across the globe were forced from their countries, but Sri Lanka had by far the highest number of fleeing reporters, the report said
