Will any Business saavy Nation like India invest more in a loss maknig venture ?

Lolz..& why is your GOSl not allowing more of LIOC ?

Govt. unlikely to allow LIOC open more sales points

The Lanka India Oil Company (LIOC) had sought permission to open 300 more filling stations in Sri Lanka, but the Government is very unlikely to comply with the request, Petroleum Resources Minister A. H. M. Fowzie told Parliament yesterday.

The Minister said that according to the agreement with the LIOC, it should be allowed to open a new filling station each time the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) opens one.

The Government was now seeking expert opinion on the possibility of amending the agreement. In the Government s opinion the agreement does not reciprocate each others interest.

'The LIOC has during the past few months been seeking permission to open the new filling stations but we have still not replied,' Fowzie said.

The Minister said this in answer to a supplementary question raised by JVP Parliamentary Group Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake. In response to the Minister, Dissanayake said the best thing would be to amend the agreement instead of postponing the issue without replying the Indians.

Agreeing with Dissanayake s suggestion Fowzie said the Government was exploring ways to remove the conditions that are not favourable to Sri Lanka s interest. LIOC had not purchased any petrol or diesel from the CPC, he said.

When asked for the details of the quantity of oil imported by the LIOC, in 2007 and 2008 Fowzie replied that the Company imported 215,724 metric tons of petrol of 70 Octane, 23,365 metric tons of 95 Octane, 267,927 metric tons of diesel and 4,917 metric tons of Super Diesel.

Asked for the percentage of the sale of oil by the LIOC against the sale of oil by the country, the Minister said petrol 90 Octane was 23 per cent in 2007 and 22 per cent in 2008. Petrol 95 Octane was 32 per cent in 2007 and 31 per cent in 2008. Diesel 13 per cent in 2007 and 12 per cent in 2008 and Super Diesel was 44 per cent in 2007 and 16 per cent in 2008.

HRW seems to be experts in IDP resettlement also. We can resolve this issue if HRW and Anna Neistat have the answers to the following questions.

(1) Number of houses destroyed by LTTE before their withdrawal marathon (hint: roofing, doors, and windows were totally take out by LTTE from these homes.
(2) Number of bridges LTTE destroyed in their withdrawal marathon.
(3) Number of other public infrastructure destroyed by LTTE before their withdrawal marathon (hint: Kilinochichi municipal water supply system as partially destroyed by LTTE, also one reservoir was totally destroyed by LTTE)
(4) Number of land mines and booby traps LTTE setup before their withdrawal marathon.
(5) Time needed for law enforcement to arrest all the LTTE terrorists hiding among civilians.
(6) Time needed by SLDF to clear all the areas free of land mines and traps.
(7) Time needed for Sri Lanka to restore the essential public infrastructure destroyed by LTTE.

If they have done all of these things by themselves in the past, the I believe it is fair criticism. However, HRW neither has expertise or experience in any of the above mentioned tasks. The only thing they are supposed to do it use HR as a tool to control the poor countries on behalf of the west. Therefore this is pure HRW garbage.

Getting even better..

LIOC lost Rs.1.6 billion for the 4Q08

http://www.nation.lk/2009/05/31/busi1.htm

1.6 billion loss in one quarter is one of the biggest quarterly losses in Sri Lankan history..
It has to be an Indian company to acheive this..

When you lie in a public forum, you look like an ideot in front of a huge audience..
When you try to cover that up, it looks even uglier..
