Sri Lanka just presented an expanded resolution to UNHRC aimed at arriving at a promoting consensus among UNHRC members. Sri Lankan Ambassador to UN in Geneva Dayan Jayatilaka called it the best synthesis of the sentiments of the human rights council . The original draft which had 17 paragraphs have been expanded to 29 paragraphs.
Sri Lanka`s expanded draft resolution titled assistance to Sri Lanka in the promotion and protection of Human rights to the UN human rights council was just adopted with 29 votes in favor of it. 12 countries including the EU, Mexico,
Japan and Chilie voted against. 6 countries abstained from voting.
