`Terrorism doesn`t just blow up buildings it blasts every other issue off the political map. The spectre of terrorism - real and exaggerated - has become a shield of impunity, protecting governments around the world from scrutiny for their human rights abuses.`
Naomi Klein
`If you listen to the politicians, you might think we are all terrorists.`
Loesje (international originally Dutch free speech organization)
`Our position is clear and frank...We consider the military occupation of our land a terrorist act.`
Yasser Arafat

Tragic
Finally, let me just state the obvious: that, with over 80,000 people losing their lives, this war has been absolutely tragic. However, that doesn`t mean its conclusion is any reason for celebration. The fact is that a people who have had their own homeland for the past two decades have just had it stolen away all largely due to our unnecessary and unjust involvement.
Freedom once won is now once more denied. And this fact makes the whole brutal war even more tragic. For anyone who believes in justice and self-determination, this is a truly sad outcome indeed.

Main reason LTTE failed are :
1. Using military force against Karuna after the split - made Tamils to loose chance of federal state under merged N and E.
2. Persecution of Muslims - made most of Eastern population (58% non-Tamil) as anti-LTTE
3. Killing Rajiv Ghandi - isolated LTTE on the international scene |

| Now SL gov will do everything to restrict aid to the IDP camps, they are making best use of disunity among Tamil people as they are allowing paramilitaries to enter camps and abduct children |

| For SL Tamils, it could be a major issue, For Indians, including the people of Tamilnadu, Srilankan issue is just another issue in the daily life. So adding Tamils in India in this is meaningless I would say. |

I dont know how much you knew about SL Tamil issues. LTTE and many were trained in India and had offices in Madras. It is/was not just another issue then till VP started fighting with IPKF. This shouldn't have happen if Indira like PM was in place than a clown Rajiv who could dance to Swamys music.
Read the article India never been a silent spectator. It may be for Delhi just another issue. But it shouldn't be for TN Tamils. 80000+ Tamils were killed. I wonder why TN Tamils should not take it as an issue. Forget about Tamils is it not an issue just happening next to your country?
Would India behaved like as now if it happen to Hindi speaking people? |

CPI today demanded that India should not support a draft resolution tabled by Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council calling for member nations not to interfere in its internal affairs and said if New Delhi does so it amounted to 'letting down' the cause of the Tamils.
Party National Secretary D Raja said India should not support the resolution tabled by Sri Lanka in the UNHCR which is a 'counter' to the one tabled by certain member countries demanding a probe into war crimes committed during the last phase of the ethnic conflict in the island.
'India should not identify itself with Sri Lanka. If it does so, it means letting down the cause of the Sri Lankan Tamils,' Raja said.
'India should not back the resolution at the UN. If India backs it means that the government here supports whatever Sri Lanka has done till now,' he said.
A special session of UNHCR scheduled for tomorrow is being convened at the request 17 of the 47 members of the HRC, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Britain.

Diaspora have to play a big role in post-LTTE Sri Lanka, especially in development of war affected areas. However I doubt SL gov would give a chance for diaspora to fund the development, as they are not allowing INGOs and aid orgs to function in IDP camps
Anti-GOSL protests should continue if Sl gov continue their discrimination of Tamils |

At least now SL Tamils should realize that they were taken a well designed ride by TN tamils and India.
There is no peace for them untill they break their connection to them and start working independantly.
Free rides are alwasy available, but may be painful! |
