Narayanan, Menon leaving for Colombo

Thursday, 21 May 2009 - 6:00 AM SL Time

New Delhi (PTI): Ahead of their departure for Colombo, National Security Adviser M K Narayanan and Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon on Wednesday met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and discussed with him issues that will come up during talks with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The two met Mr. Karunanidhi at Tamil Nadu house after which Mr. Narayanan said he came to seek his advice on issues.

`I will be leaving for Sri Lanka today and I will be holding talks there,` Narayanan told reporters after the meeting.

The two envoys are expected to take up issues like devolution of powers to Tamils in the island and their immediate rehabilitation in view of their sufferings undergone during the current war.

To a question on Prabakaran`s fate, the NSA said `as per our information Prabakaran is no more`.

On Tuesday, Mr. Karunanidhi had refused to believe that the LTTE supremo was dead.

`The news is not yet confirmed. I have nothing to say now on this issue,` Mr. Karunanidhi had said.

India has prepared a Rs 500 crore rehabilitation package for the displaced people.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had already announced a Rs 100-crore relief package for Lankan Tamils in addition to the Rs 25 crore aid given by Tamil Nadu government.

India has been asking Sri Lanka to take political steps to ensure `effective devolution of power` so that Tamils in the island nation could live with dignity.

Narayanan and Menon will try and help cover up the war crimes in SL war, and use of heavy weapons.

I heard from some sources that few Indian soldiers were firing artillery / heavy weapons into NFZ, cant confirm for sure. I know for a fact that few Indian army people got injured in the Vavuniya air raid last yr.

Never. I have very good Indian friends form many states in both gender. They have no knowledge about what is happening in SL? It is matter of policy or what ever SL Tamils dont talk politics. But I did speak with my friends but I can not justify Rajiv murder to a hard core TN Tamil. So imagine how it would be for other state Indians. For them it is the big unforgettable issue. Tamils have paid the price for VPs misfortune and LTTE itself.

Tamils can become strong vibrant respectable race if they are ready work with the Sinhalese as Sri Lankans.

Sinhalese & Tamils are people of the same stock. Sinhalese/Tamils achieved many things through out history with the help of each other.

One reason for the war victory is the help they got from patriotic Tamils.

In the whole world, Sinhala people gave the Best treatment to tamils. Tamils used that against Sinhala people to destroy them and Sri Lanka. Only the Sri Lankan Tamils enjoyed the best. Yet they double crossed Sri Lanka.

Because of that, except for political reasons, Tamils should not be trusted at all.
