Dravidians
==========
Aryans, branch of the Indo-European people that migrated to the Indian subcontinent in prehistoric times. The Indo-Europeans originated in Central Asia, in the area of the Caspian Sea. They originally shared a common language, which, in the course of their migrations, was spread far and wide throughout Europe and South Asia. Those people that reached India some time in the second millennium BC came to be known as Aryans. Their language formed the basis of the Indo-Aryan language family, from which Sanskrit, Hindi, and other Indian languages are derived.

The Aryan tribes were semi-nomadic pastoralists who settled in small village communities and for whom cattle-rearing was the main basis of civilization. In the first few hundred years after their arrival through the passes of the Hindu Kush mountains, Aryan expansion was gradual. They used stone, bronze, and copper axes to clear forests, and moved further east into the Indo-Gangetic plain. The use of iron implements can be dated to around 700 BC, which accelerated expansion and increased agricultural development.

The Aryans are best known through the literature that they produced, namely the ancient Vedic texts: the Rig, Sama, Yajur, and Atharva Vedas. The epics Ramayana and Mahabharata are also concerned with events that took place between about 1000 and 700 BC, and are supported by some archaeological evidence. However, versions that survive of these epics date only from the first half of the first millennium AD, so they cannot be treated as authentic historical evidence for the period to which they pertain. All these were recorded in Sanskrit. The Aryans developed a written script in about 700 BC during the early Vedic period, instruction was totally oral.

The social organization of the Aryans gave rise to the caste system as a result of their encounter with the Dravidian people, called dasas, the indigenous inhabitants of India who were physically of a darker colouring to the Aryans. The word arya in Sanskrit means pure . The Sanskrit word for caste, varna, means colour , and inter-marriage was forbidden between the two groups in order to preserve Aryan identity. The Aryans asserted their pre-eminence on account of their successful conquest of the dasas. The dasas were accommodated as the shudras (servants) at the bottom of a caste system that was based on an ideology of ritual purity. The Brahmans (priests), Kshatriyas (warriors), and Vaisyas (traders), all of whom were Aryan, were ranked above them. The continuance of caste was secured by being made hereditary and sub-castes were linked to occupation. Sacrifice, animism, and the doctrine of karma were central to Aryan ideas of religion and a body of profound philosophical thought is encapsulated in the Upanishads, a section of the Vedas.

Philological studies by German and other European scholars in the 19th century gave the word arya a racial connotation and led to the theory of the Aryan race , seen by some as a superior race. This arose probably as a result of the Aryans` contrast of themselves with the dasas and their strict practice of endogamy to ensure racial purity . Although scholars later clarified the fallacy inherent in conflating language and race, the idea had already taken root and led to the growth of a perceived dichotomy between Aryan and Semitic peoples (notably Jews) based on the classification of their different language families. Such ideas were promulgated by racist theorists such as Houston Stewart Chamberlain, and were later used to justify the racist atrocities committed by the National Socialists under Adolf Hitler. Vedic Aryan culture has also been used in recent times by political movements in India to reinforce ideas of the ancient indigenous culture of India in contrast to later influences.

Dravidians
==========
Dravidian, name applied to a linguistically (but not racially) related group of people in India composed mainly of the traditionally lower-caste members of Indian society such as the Tamil and more isolated highland peoples such as the Ghats and the Todas. Languages from the Dravidian family are spoken by Dravidians. There is a considerable amount of contact and intermarriage with other peoples of the Indian subcontinent. Because of this contact, contemporary Dravidian culture is very diverse, with some groups maintaining more traditional customs (such as totemism and the tracing of kinship through the female line) whereas others have adopted the lifestyles of a modern technological society. Since India`s independence in 1947, Dravidian groups have actively protested against attempts to make Hindi, an Indo-European language, the only official language of India. Today, with more than 180 million speakers, the Dravidians make up the fourth-largest linguistic group in the world.

Dravidian Languages
-------------------
Dravidian Languages, important family of languages spoken mainly in southern India and northern Sri Lanka. In terms of numbers of speakers, the four most important of them are Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Tamil is spoken in Tamil Nadu state of India and in the northern and eastern parts of Sri Lanka, where Tamil speakers have been conducting a protracted guerrilla war as part of a secessionist movement. Malayalam is the principal language of Kerala state, on the south-western coast of India. Kannada (formerly known as Kanarese) is spoken largely in Karnataka state, while Telugu is spoken in southern Andhra Pradesh. Each of the major Dravidian languages has its own distinctive script and a well-developed literature. The Dravidian languages can be subdivided as follows: North (Kurukh or Oraon) Central (Kolami) South-Central (Gondi, Koya, Kui, Telugu) South (Kannada, Kodagu or Coorgi, Malayalam, Tamil, Tulu) and one set of nine unclassified languages. According to the 1991 Census of India, these Dravidian languages had the following numbers of native speakers (in descending order): Telugu, 66,017,615 Tamil, 53,006,368 Kannada, 32,753,676 Malayalam, 30,377,176 Gondi, 2,124,852 Tulu, 1,552,259 Kurukh/Oraon, 1,426,618 Kui, 641,662 Koya, 270,994 Kolami, 98,281 and Kodagu/Coorgi, 97,011. Thus the Dravidian family constitutes one of the most populous language families in India, as does the Indo-Aryan (a branch of the Indo-Iranian languages).

The Great Aryan Myth

Knight Dunlap

The Scientific MonthlyThe Aryan myth is now completely discredited among scholars. Ethnologists (outside of Germany) do not speak of an Aryan race any more than they speak of a Jewish race. Linguists no longer speak of an Aryan family of languages, preferring the less succinct but more accurately descriptive term 'Indo-European'. Popular thought, however, seems still somewhat confused by the word 'Aryan.'

The actual origin of the myth is obscure. Hankins (The Racial Basis of Civilization, 1926) traces it back to the early period of the nineteenth century, and if its roots extend further into the past, they are not clearly uncovered. The German warmongers, in the latter part of the century, avidly adopted the myth as dressing for the doctrine sometimes called 'Pan-Germanism': the doctrine of a race of supermen, destined to dominate the world with the ruthlessness of ancient savagery. This doctrine of a great German race, however, is older than the Aryan myth. It was well established before Nietzsche fulminated against morality and humanitarianism. Perhaps the German paranoia can be traced back to Fichte, Schelling, and Hegel, as Hankins implies, and as Kolnai (The War Against the West, 1938) seems to think it can be. This possibility is not important for our present purposes. The doctrine of a German race of supermen is certainly older than the Aryan myth.In its commonest form, the Aryan myth postulated a group of people calling themselves 'Aryans', who invaded India at some time before the Christian Era and settled in the Indus Valley. Various speculative theories as to the location of the original 'home' of these Aryans were invented by scholars who credulously accepted the myth. All the theories agreed, however, that from some place of origin, whether in Europe or Asia, groups of this Aryan stock migrated into India, Iran, and Europe.

If, however, we seek for historical evidence for the existence of this early Aryan stock or for legendary accounts of their migrations and activities, we find that the evidence is nonexistent and that there were no legends about an Aryan racial stock until a century or so ago. The myth is a modern invention

The Aryan Myth
The reason Greece was chosen as the so-called cradle of Western Civilization is primarily because of its role in the occult tradition. However, as we will see, this occult tradition, known as the Kabbalah, was developed in Babylon. It was then developed by the Greeks, but after it was transferred to the Romans, it was adopted by a heretical branch of Islam during the Middle Ages, before being introduced to the Europeans during the Crusades.

Therefore, in order to exclude the role of these other Near Eastern civilizations from the development of the so-called Western Civilization, it was necessary to invent a specific relationship said to directly link the Greeks with the later Europeans. The basis of that relationship was race. Specifically, the Aryan race.

Essentially, the myth of the Aryan race was constructed to argue that modern Europeans were the direct descendants of the ancient Greeks, making it therefore possible to exclude the contributions of other peoples.

European civilization, being originally Christian, viewed the various Bible stories as historical fact, regarding history to have begun with the creation of Adam and Eve, followed by the Flood, the survival of Noah, and guidance of the Jewish people through Moses followed by many prophets, until the advent of Jesus who is regarded as the expected Messiah.

However, there existed simultaneously in Europe a secret occult tradition that rejected this narrative, and instead revered Lucifer, to whom they were grateful for having revealed to them the secret knowledge forbidden by God, who they regarded as unjust. That sacred lore is known as magic.
