The Sri Lankan government says it is considering a humanitarian pause in the current offensive against Tamil Tiger rebels in the north eastern region to allow time for civilians to escape the fighting.
The Sri Lankan foreign secretary Palitha Kohona told BBC Sri Lanka correspondent Anbarasan Ethirajan that the details for a halt in the fighting will be worked out shortly.

Defence Affairs spokesman, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told BBC Sandeshaya that proposed pause should be based upon what he described as a result-oriented strategy.

The LTTE has made use of such pauses in the past, Minister Rambukwella said, to regroup and launch fresh attacks on the military forces.

It is funny to see the Sinhala racists 'caring' for Tamil civilians!:)

The Sinhala Wolves are crying because the Tamil sheep are getting wet! :))) LOL

The Sinhala racists are trying to use the plight of Tamils for anti LTTE propaganda. The Tamils are dying because of this Sinhala war on Tamils. Now the Sinhalese want to protest against their own war. The Sinhalese are cunning racists.

All is fair in love and war. It's time for the Government to work during the cease fire period to strengthen its own side one way or the other.

I dont think the GOSL will give any breathing space to the tigers.. specially when the LTTE is surrounded and trapped.. lets hope the offensive will continue even though there is a pause.. eitherways there is very little the LTTE can do at this stage... even though there will be a pause.. but I m certain this is done in a way so that only civilians will benefit out of this... so there is nothing for the diaspora to celebrate about.. either way LTTE will be decimated....

As per the Sinhalese in this forum that is not for Tamils. My claim that I was Sri Lanka was never supported by the likes of you. Let a true Sri Lankan who included me step forward to get my vote.

Spetznazi,

Go read the Lankatruth. :))

However, international media indicated the Security Council of the UNO, the USA and Britain have pressurized the government to go in for a ceasefire. Hence, political analysts point out that the government would have to abide by the conditions laid down by these international forces and would NOT BE ALLOWED to have its own conditions as stated by Minister Rambukwella.

Well, you are a terrorist supporter and how can we treat you in the same manner. If you say, you are not supporting terrorism in Sri Lanka, then we can treat you as a Sri Lankan, until then you are a traitor to the country and to the world.
