Another group of Sri Lankan house maids who faced severe hardships at their working places in the Middle East have returned to the country yesterday.
Sri Lanka`s Foreign Employment Bureau said a total of 40 women workers reached the country after spending some time in welfare camps of their respective countries of employment.
According to the Bureau the women have worked as house maids in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Most of them came back even without receiving their salaries while some others have even received injuries at the hands of abusive employers.
The Foreign Employment Bureau has sent the women to their villages after providing them with food and money at the Katunayake International Airport.

I hope the GOSL brings in new strategies to combat this kind of abuse... they should first find a solution for this problem. rather than sending women overseas for jobs... I got strong doubts that these middle eastern governments got any tough rules against these abusers....

These MidEast chaps look down on Sri Lankans for their poverty and being non-believers. Also the weathier SL Muslims don't admire the Sinhalese lifestyle that much.
But gosl has very few options to earn foreign currency in these days.
