The Hon Joel Fitzgibbon, MP
Minister for Defence
Canberra
27 March 2009
Dear Mr. Fitzgibbon,
It`s the Aussie Way Take it in your stride
I refer to the news reports about officers of your Ministry `investigating` into your conduct.
According to Daily Telegraph report `Former senior defence official Alan Behm said it was not standard procedure for a department to investigate its minister.
Any such inquiry would have to be authorised through the prime minister`s office and be conducted through proper channels, he said`
The question is whether it is democratic that that facility is available. Given that we serve in other countries by using the name of democracy, it is important that we practice democracy at home at least in services that are being globalized. If the officers who investigated had the delegated authority to investigate, they were within their rights to do so. They may have been motivated by your actions in disciplining the department. But every delegated officer has the power equal to the authority that delegated that power to the extent covered by the delegation. If the delegation to investigate did not specify limits then you are not an exception. If it did then it must exclude other Ministers also. That would then mean that you have the parallel of judicial immunity and is that then fair to the People above whose power you are not required to have except as per your position needs?
Mr. Fitzgibbon, we the migrants of Northeastern
Sri Lankan origin are used to the persecution from wider society who refer to us as Terrorists because of the Tamil Tigers. Given that we could not prevent armed rebellion against suppression by majority race through its government, we have to accept that label as part of the price we pay for independence. It is not independence as stated by others. It is feeling independent. If we do not accept the weaknesses in our community we are not independent because we have the desire to impress others. One who is independent fills the gap him/herself. Likewise a community/nation/society.
I assembled peacefully in the Public Area of the University of NSW to do what you are reported to have sought to do make your Department more efficient and effective. You had the status and I did not. I doubt that you would have accumulated the deep feelings I experience about ownership. It is something that I did not inherit but have work hard and sacrificed deep to earn. Yet, the Vice Chancellors of the University of NSW resorted to armed action to `silence` me, instead of using the intellectual path. They were supported by the State as well as Federal governments in this. The former sent armed officers to enforce entry into our home unit by unlawfully obtaining entry into the building and to remove assets to settle the costs paid to hired
lawyers to defend themselves in court. I followed Due Process at every point. Hence when you take the beginning and the end it says that if you dare to challenge someone above you in status you would be punished through armed officers and ruined financially and socially.
Since it all started about 10 years back I did not take any paid work . I needed the focus to taken matters through the courts. I withdrew most of my superannuation to keep our home mortgage going. Recently, after failing to win jobs at any level - I was offered work in the private sector for a medical practice which is virtually a one man show. The job was that of a receptionist not unlike my first job when I arrived here in
Australia, almost 24 years back. I did accept and if I had continued, I would have done a good job. But those who benefit from my regular `service` work, appealed to me to continue with my `service` work especially in Sri Lanka`s North & East. Enough money is being offered by my immediate family towards this. It is their participation in Global issues through Sri Lanka. When they participate through me they are able to relate to it at the global level.
Likewise , your current experience. If your officers are facilitated to `audit` you, they would have the confidence to `audit` those higher than you in position for example Prime Minister of
Pakistan or Afghanistan or Sri Lanka.
It does not matter what our status is or what type of work we do. It`s why we do that work that matters with Natural Justice. I may just clean toilets but when I do so if I am conscious of global standards then I do make a contribution at that level. But if a Prime Minister is talking to the
World Bank to please his wife, then his work value does not extend beyond his biological family. Mr. Howard for example revealed this narrow thinking through his handling of his brother`s affairs in parliament.
Eventually, we judge ourselves through the Truth we know. That is how we merge with Universal Power/God. If we share our Truth with at least one person that empowers us. Truth is Universal Power. It is important to share Truth that reflects Rights if someone is in need of that power. That`s when transparency is a higher virtue than modesty of the hierarchical system.
Mr. Fitzgibbon, a good number of white Australians are fearful of migrants and Aborigines. Even male Police Officers confessed to being fearful of women prisoners. In democracy, fear is the other side of desire. In hierarchical management desire is the interval between two fears. Most hierarchical positions carry these fears due to past karma from actions against minorities. Until we accept our weaknesses we would not complete the cycle and therefore would tend to extend pleasures. Whatever our physical environment if we work genuinely Divine Powers manifest themselves when we are in real need. Hence excessive powers become heavy burdens for the institution as a whole and lead to problems like your current one.
I strongly suggest that you take a democratic approach so the real value of your genuine work would be preserved for the nation. I confirm that to me there is God Power and that all my defeats in courts and at the University of NSW were to know the Truth about my environment and assist complete the cycle of Truth. This empowers us in real terms. That is the only power that works any where any time. Hence I urge you to stay within your Truth and observe what happens. My prayers are with you.
Yours sincerely
Gaja Lakshmi Paramasivam
