It has been some time that we reported about the possession of WMB by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Some people, including the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Mr. Ratnasiri, rejected it as a wide rumor.

But the recent discovery of two huge bombs that were designed and manufactured by Tamil engineers using the local Tamil Eelam ingenuity has shed new light to the WMD capability that LTTE may have developed.

While the discovery of these two mega bombs which could easily destroy a complete metropolitan area is itself startling, the military experts and defense analysts had earlier expressed doubts that even if LTTE possesses WMD they did not have a short-range missile to carry such WMD warhead.

Though Tigers possessed domestically refurbished light airplanes, military analysts had expressed that such light airplanes could not carry a WMD warhead.

But, the recent rumors about the Helium technology that LTTE may be still possesses had added a new dimension to the WMD theory.

It was believed that VP was planning a three-pronged attack on three vital hubs Jaffna`s Palalai Airbase, Trincomali`s SLN Head Quarters, and the City of Colombo. The recent rumors of Helium Balloon technology has certainly added credibility to WMD theory as experts believe that Helium Balloons could be easily used to transport the huge bombs that SLA had just dug out from a bomb-making factory in Tamil Eelam.

SLA had dug out only two such mega bombs. But, if one is to believe VP`s plan, there must be three such bombs. So, it is clear that SLA is yet to find the third bomb.

Moreover, SLA is yet to discover anything resembling a Helium Balloon from Vanni or PTK area.
