UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe is under pressure to step down. A group of UNP Parliamentarians is currently gathering signatures to urge the UNP leadership to summon a special Parliamentary Group meeting to broach the party s future and also request the party leader to immediately step down.
Informed sources said the group is now agitating that Mr. Wickremasinghe should appoint a leader for an interim period and immediately permit a new leadership to emerge. A signatory to the letter said eight signatures had so far been placed. They include some front liners. The leadership should now concede that the baton must be passed on prior to facing any other poll. A majority of the members have opted that the present leader should not be allowed to lead the party at the forthcoming poll. They also fear that in the event a Presidential election precedes a General Election, Mr. Wickremasinghe will perform poorly.

I got a warning from Mr. Brown that I have too many words in the higher case. Then I tried to post it in the lower case and I get a warning that I am trying to post the same twice.

Ranil has taken the blame and borne the brunt of government so far and weathered a rough ride. All that is good. But now the time has come for this visionary leader to take a back seat and let somebody more vigorous and rigorous, like SB, to lead the party to victory. Junta is scared of popular national leader like SB.
Long live UNP. |

He...He...He...Pooh...Pooh...Pooh...
Aney Raigomayo,
In what planet do visionary leaders take back seats? Leaders lead from the front. It is losers that get thrown out from the front to back.
Those who think losers are visionary...I have no word for those in my vocabulary.
Long live UNP.
With retard jokers like you as followers, I doubt it. |

Pressure on Ranil Wickremasinghe to step down in Sri Lanka
As far as Ranil is concerned, this is a simple matter. He will promptly appoint yet another interim committee to investigate the allegations and will give it six more months to deliver its deliberations. Any complains about the in-effectiveness or the transparency of that interim committee will be dealt with in a similar manner, by appointing more and more committees.
If worse come to worst, he will create few new positions (like the position of Assistant Leader as oppose to Deputy Leader) and will appoint those who raised against him to those positions. That will surely keep them happy for next six months.

| No wonder why MR sent Karu back to the UNP. So MR can control the UNP too, once Ranil is kicked out. |
