Hope this vehicle is not a fuel guzzling, expensive, hard to buy, hard to maintain, stripped of all security systems, assembled exclusively for the Sri Lankan market!
Vehicles, like most of the things, exported by China are getting a very bad reputation due to lack of modern security systems and high tech.
This will add to increased road accidents & untimely deaths on SRI LANKAN roads... |

We are already in the process of setting this GIE here in Australia.
Yes I heard there was an outback hillbilly running for the presidency for the GIE.. but lets hope the prices are affordable for the comman mass in SL... |

A company known as MICRO began assembling Ssyangyong Actyons and Kyrons in SL. The damned things were costing Rs.8m and Rs.9m. Not in the least cheap even after having been manufactured/assembled in SL.
These WTL vehicles too would very likely end up with a similar pricing.
The reason for the high prices are the numerous taxes. What surprised me was that vehicles manufactured/assembled in the country were taxed, of all things, 'Customs Duty'!

It costs a lot of money to maintain the jumbo cabinet and the 90 odd consultants and advisers. So, why complain. Just pay. And just be happy that everything will be all right after the war. |

Horrible Maruti doesn't have any attractive shape or finish and cheaper quality spare parts has reached 1.3 million Rupees. This Hiace is a another collection to the rotten lot.
Prizes are sky rocketing! For the same prize but better quality and trade name used cars can be purchased from foreign countries if the custom duty can be reduced!

| Until I saw the last word in the article, I wondered why, of all the things we could do in SL, we would want to assemble vans that will likely shudder apart after puffing along for 1 km. Then I saw that last word (Hambantota) and all was clear! |

No one has to complain and buy this expensive stuff 'made or assembled in Sri Lanka' when there are the options of buying a reconditioned Jap vehicle, or a B/N Jap,Indian, Malaysian, Thai, Korean or South African Vehicle OR simply ship the vehicle of your choice from which ever country you are in!!
OH! Yes SL still will be super fine for a holiday of a about a month, even after the war! |
