Opposition Presidential Candidate General Sarath Fonseka is prepared to face President Mahinda Rajapakse in a public debate over allegations involving his son-in-law to an illegal arms deal, Media Coordinator for the Opposition Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

Speaking to the media Dissanayake said that General Fonseka is prepared to face the President in response to an invitation that was laid out yesterday by National Freedom Front Leader Wimal Weerawansa and answer to allegations levelled against him.

Meanwhile MP Mangala Samaraweera, the co-media spokesman for Opposition Common Candidate Gen. Sarath Fonseka, alleged that the government had pilfered money from the Sena Vithana Fund, established for the benefit of the Civil Defence Force, to run the election campaign of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

MP Samaraweera said during the news conference that Rs. 250 is deducted from the monthly salary of each home guard.

Just before 2005 election RW challenged MR for a debate but he chickened out and instead Dr Vermin De Silva agreed to have a debate with RW on behalf of MR. This time also he will not face a debate. Already Gel Weerawansa has come forward . JVP Anura Disanayake has put it nicely. He said that when the lion king was invited for a debate a pig came forward. Do not expect a live debate because the sensitive leader is scared of live debates. he has always got others to do his work throughout his political career.

Fonseka ready to face Mahinda Rajapakse in public debate in Sri Lanka

The first question from SF will be what is the need for early P.election at the cost of 7 - 8 billions waste of money, when you have 2 years remaining yet to complete?

Mr.President, You are yet to justify to the general public of SL what is the need for P.Election now.

MP Samaraweera said during the news conference that Rs. 250 is deducted from the monthly salary of each home guard

It is sad that P.Election expenditure is out of deduction from home guard salary......was it really for election exp or to the pocket of MR & Gang......needs to be debated in public......immediately.
