The Security Forces were dedicated to the war under the guidance of the leadership of the President who is the Commander in Chief and also the Defence Secretary.

This was emphasized by former Military Spokesman Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe. Addressing a news briefing today, the Brigadier said this is not a war won by the Army alone. The other two forces were also involved.

The Security Forces, the Police, Home Guards and the civil society all made a vital contribution. The decisions were made by the Security Council which is chaired by the President. The decisions were communicated through the Defence Secretary to the Chief of Defence Staff and to the Chiefs of the Security Forces, the Commanders of Headquarters and to the Commanders of Divisions and Brigades.

Perfectly true. This holds true for MR, Gotabhaya, the Rajapaksa family AND Sarath Fonseka too! None of them can solely take the credit for defeating the LTTE.

It was the result of a JOINT TEAM EFFORT where so many were involved and ALL those involved played their roles so well.

The President gave the unstinted political leadership and logistical support without politically interfering with the war and refrained from making it a political gimmick unlike what CBK and Anuruddha Ratwatte did with operations such as Jayasikuru. MR deserves the credit for his part there.

The 3 service commanders and the defence secretary have to be credited with the strategical planning and coordination efforts that would have gone into the victorious war effort

The rank and file of the Army, Navy and Airforce have to be credited with actually battling it out face to face with the LTTE in the battle fronts and defeating them.

Finally a BIG salute to the actual unknown and unidentified soldier who put that bullet through the head of that blood thirsty megalomaniac on the banks of the Nandikadal lagoon which officially ended 30 years of terror in Sri Lanka.

That's how I see it.

I love how the major issue in SL is credit for a war. Not a failing economy, massive corruption, rebuilding the north etc. Its who gets to claim victory. Ever watch those movies on ancient Rome where generals would fight over who got the Triumph? The Singalese are basically having the same problems of civilizations 1000s of years old. Bit embarrassing commentary on your race don't you think? Well maybe its just coincidental like society never changes. Its not like MR is going around comparing himself to ancient kings..

Our information is that during this visit, the General received a fat cheque towards the services he had rendered to please his hosts bulk orders for military hardware for which he was responsible. The goodwill money shorn of all honorific is pure and unadulterated commission, kick back.

Asian Tribune investigations show that the Arms dealer son-in-law used the occasion of the visit to China at the invitation of NORINCO to meet its rival, Poly Technologists. Danuna Tilakaratne met the Poly Technologists representatives with the full knowledge and blessings of his father-in-law. The meeting was a hush-hush affair. It resulted in some orders to Poly Technologists and the ordinance factory was asked to quickly ferry the ordered weapons to Sri Lanka. Poly Technologists also is rumoured to have showered the Sri Lanka Star general and his starry son-in-law with its version of goodwill money.

All these discreet arms deals took place when the Sri Lankan forces - Army, Navy and air force were engaged in a pitched battle with the Tiger terrorists in Wanni.

The holiday party lingered on in mainland China for a little while. By the time the General and his family and friends returned home with spirits rejuvenated, Sri Lanka s war against terrorism on its very own soil ended by the 18 May.

During the final stages of the war, as the army commander was not on hand, the Defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa along with Vanni Commander and other forces commanders steered the campaign that culminated in the elimination of Pribakaran and his terrorists group.

He is crazy of women. Many women soldiers were molested. A case in point is of Nanda Menike. Sarath Fonseka repeatedly raped this woman solider and fathered two children. Before leaving from the Army he arranged pension and other benefits to her.

Asian Tribune is willing to arrange a genetic test to prove the charge.

Your King raped many girls when Srimavo ruling. Kiriberty was his rape mate. So not differ from SF.
