People do not vote JVP simply due to 'impractical ideas' but they admire their creative ways. So this helps host parties in the coalition to extract more votes.

People did vote for JVP for their supposed/displayed integrity between 1994-2004.

Since then JVP has lost all its credibility & integrity.

Calling me Names is not the answer to my queries. Most of you are missing the point. SF is NOT a UNP candidate. He is been sponsored by UNA as the Common Candidate.

If Sarath Fonseka is elected as President, we will have the Government of People of Sri Lanka and to OUR misfortune, if Mahinda Rajapakse comes back to Power, then we will have a Puppet Of India. That's the difference.

Once again I reiterate, I am NO UNPeer but I am for the change for the better. Hopefully, a real democratic Government with all the Independent Commissions in Force.

This could be stale news but yet I shall post.

Police Personnel who are loyal to Rajapakses' been handpicked and transferred to strategic Positions in various electorates. Over 1000 Army personnel been hand picked and sent in civvies to various electorates that has UNF power bases. Madampe incident is the work of those 'Civvies'.

JVP didn't lose anything over the years except Weerawansa and Nanda Gunathilaka lost the party :))

Nandana Gunathilaka is the person who once appeared for presidential elections in 1994?? Since then he kept jumping from branch to branch. I am expecting more integrity and responsible behavior from a person like him.

Election results would say real picture clearly.
However, it took a while for JVP lose credibility whereas MR & Co undergo that process quickly!!

JVP never had credibility & integrity in first place to loose it. during 94-04 they survived due to war which they had something to shout about. Now war is over they are deflated, nothing to shout.

Nothing.

Thats how a democracy should work.

In this election our focus should be integrity of politicians.

Public/media should emphasis this aspect to all politicians.

Damed,

MR is not a good candidate, but SF will provide better integrity and strength to develop Sri Lanka. First thing that Sri lankans must understand that if they want to develop Sri lanka on far with other countries, we need to change the attitude. Unless people start to think positively and right direction, wide roads or deep arbors will not bring us anywhere. Up to now, all the elected politicians failed to achieve this target. Their ambition is to show 'magic' to people and make them surprised rather than showing them reality.

Recently, I saw in media that their is a big haa hoo in media that power & Energy minister doing rounds with Nuclear Power generation in Sri Lanka. come on and grow up. Those technologies were invented more than 60 years ago and after seen all negatives, now even inventors are moving into new technologies. But still out ministers are trying to show case those things for wow factor !!

What Sri Lanka needs in next 5-10 years:

1. Restore law & order. Let people live peacefully. Teach people to admire cultural and religious diversity. no more war celebrations.

2. Assign only qualified professionals to right positions.

3. Stop corruption. Punish anyone misappropriate public properties severely.

4. Rather than regional development, develop Sri Lanka as one unit. Recognize Colombo, Dumbbell, Mankulam, Trincomalee and Hambanthota as major cities. Make a better highway system connecting all these cities. Exploit all available natural resources in these places.

5. Reform education system. Drop teaching religion in schools. Why monks in temples can not teach Buddhism? Instead, teach basics of law, management and health. Teach students how to live in modern society. Teach English to see the world.

6. Start research and development in selected areas. First, important research for the country. Next exportable items.

etc. etc.

Who can do all these? Can present government with Dr. Mervin, Karuna and other political appointees in key places do this?
