MOD Seva Vanithavo outreach assistance War Hero parents receive house in tribute - Dambulla
The Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit, Chaired by Mrs. Ioma Rakjapaksa has honored yet another war hero for his supreme sacrifice made during the historic humanitarian operation in Wanni.
Lance Corporal S.G Wijesiri made his supreme sacrifice in the battle of Olumadu in Mankulam on 08th December, 2008. The MOD Seva Vanitha Unit in its outreach programme to assist `Rana Viru` families identified the urgency to assist late L/Cpl Wijesiri`s parents, resulting in a newly constructed house at Kandalama, Dambulla.
The keys of the newly constructed house under the aegis of the MOD Seva Vanitha Unit was handed over officially by Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa to Mr. S.G Jayasena and Mrs. G.G Leelawathi, parents of L/Cpl Wijesiri yesterday (Nov 3).
According to officials of the Seva Vanitha Unit, the 4th
Sri Lanka Engineering Corps have undertaken the construction work. Deputy Chairperson Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Indu Rathnayake, Additional Director Welfare Brigadier R.P Samarathunge, Center Commandant Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment Colonel T.G Kodithuwakku, Commanding Officer 4th Engineering Corps Major P.P.H Chandrarathne were also present at the occasion.
