As details now emerge and as reveled only after authorization, Ranil and the grand coalition plans with General Fonseka now seems follow the course as below: (off-course only if General Fonseka is willing to dance their tune)
1. Use General Fonseka to win the Presidential election if possible, running as executive president, and call general elections after-wards
2. Eliminate Executive presidency thus reducing General Fonseka`s power
3. Murder the General after wards or after general elections are called
LTTE cohorts overseas have agreed to this plan and now want General Fonseka eliminated right after elections leaving the country in limpbo.
Ranil assumes that tamils/muslims in sri lanka will give 100% vote to Coalition party (that is about 800,000) on top of
UNP base votes of 3.6 million(assuming General Fonseka reunites UNP). This would be enough to defeat current president.
This is the basis of pressuring the
Sri Lankan government to move IDP`s out of camps by the International-USA-UK group - UNP (so they can be influenced by racist segments to voting against the government).
Under these conditions securing 2/3 is not going to be easy unless full vote in the south compensates for the divisive vote in the north and transplants who live in colombo.
I think instead Presidential and General Elections should go hand in hand together because:
1. The president would be campaigning for Parliament members who can ride his tail coat to get elected.
2. Higher voter base
3. This is the same phenomena experienced in USA when Obama ran with the congress
Either way Ranil-coalition segment have already planned General Fonseka would be eliminated soon if he wins the election at any stage. Since he poses grave danger to the highest hierarchy of UNP/
SLFP corruption group.
