UNP front-liner Palitha Range Bandara who with his family staged a sathyagraha on the road leading to parliament yesterday charged that a Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman with the blessings of top government officials had led the recent attack on his residence and office.
Mr. Bandara said he would not stop there but would launch an extensive protest inside the House as well if the attackers were not brought to book.
He said the police had ignored Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandra s request that a proper investigation on the attack be carried out.
The police are well aware as to who is behind the attack but they are remaining silent on the orders of top government officials, he alleged.
Mr. Bandara said he decided to go ahead with the sathyagraha on his own though he had received the support of his parliamentary colleagues including the MPs of the ruling UPFA.
Some government MPs called me and expressed their sadness at what had happened to me but I do not want to disclose their names, he said.
Mr. Bandara said he firmly believed the attack on his residence and office was in retaliation to his repeated criticism of actions and policies of this government.
Ideologies should be defeated through ideologies and not through violence, he said.
Mr. Bandara said that since his house was burnt down he had nowhere to stay.
My children are unable to go to school as their clothes and books have been burnt in the arson attack on the house. My eldest daughter is most affected as she is sitting for her GCE Ordinary Level exam this year, he added.
His little daughter Thaushi who is a Year-one student said she also had lost her clothes and school books and was unable to do her studies.
I lost my school uniforms and books please think of the plight I am in, she said filled with emotion and on the verge of tears.

This 'poor' UNP MP has waited too long to start his satyagraha!
He could have staged his 'comedy' as soon as his mansion was burnt down.
Why did he decide now?
Any reason?
His school going children could have already found sponsors to donate school books and clothes if he made this move since the loss of their books!
UNPers wait too long to take 'decisions', even for their family members!
What has uncle Ranil done for this poor family?
Anyway, if there are any kind hearted people around the corner think of his children and not his untimely satyagraha....

will he be able to live in peace for the damage he has done to innocent people, political rivals and there assets in Anamaduwa..? |

I cannot understand your logic. Being a Senior Member you should rationalize your comments based on truth and reality not on heresy's.
Ranga is a senior politician and he travels around propagating his Party. This cowardly act was done in his absence. Ranga has his own 'force' and he did not unleashed it on good advise by few UPFA members. Slightest move, instructions are out to get him locked up.
At Anamaduwa elections he had to use fire to quell fire from the other side. He had to meet the occasion. Otherwise, he would have been a Dead Duck. He has been a Policeman and he is been trained to defense himself when attacked. If this is not sorted out, even his opponents are shivering in their boots.
Oh! Hell! Remember the saying what is good for the Goose is good for the Gander too. Let wait for that occasion.
This time Elections if held will be VERY Bl...y and dirty with about 10,000 (A)deserters (JVP Supporters) still at large. |
