All Police personnel who have problems in the Department also could meet me on every second Mondays and last Mondays from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m, Balasuriya told a press briefing at the IGP s Chambers yesterday afternoon.
This is my first media briefing after assuming office, I will arrange a media meeting within two weeks to highlight about my future programs to maintain law and order in the country, the IGP said.
IGP Mahinda Balasuriya and his family members were received at the entrance to the Police Headquarters, Colombo yesterday by Senior DIG N. K. Illangakoon and Police Headquarters DIG Asoka Wijetileke.
The new IGP after entering the Police Headquarters building offered flowers at the Buddha statue at the Headquarters and later inspected a parade, in his honour in the company of Senior DIG N.K. Illangakoon and DIG Asoka Wijetileke.
Later there was an all religious ceremony at the IGP s Chambers.
The IGP met all the senior and junior police officers at the ceremony and wished them well.
Later, after the media briefing he also wished the media personnel who were present to cover the event.
A public assistance centre will be opened for the public to make their representations but not to make complaints. This centre will be open 24 hours, IGP Balasuriya added.
The media s assistance is very important to the Police force and any constructive criticism will be welcomed IGP Balasuriya said.

No such thing as a good PoPo..
He will be no better or no worse then the previous IGP.
When a normal human dons the Police Uniform he leaves behind his decency, dignity and honor behind.

Opening doors is not enough Mr.IGP... this sounds like nothing but a PR exercise...
The K9 unit of the police are far better 'officers' than their human counter parts...
there is no proper way to take to task the coppers who go beyond their jurisdiction and take the law onto their hands...
the present system of having a police commission to probe into dirty cops and indisciplined ones are total waste of public funds without any benefit...
I have had issues with cops and have the proper route and complained to the police commission with cop tag numbers etc...
and what do they do???
they setup an 'inquiry' at the cop shed where you will have to walk in and testify against another cop :) :)
how stupid is that???
I have gone to the cop shed for this inquiry and believe me, walking into a cop shed saying you're there to complaint against a cop is not taken too well by the other cops :)
what a stupid system...
had to pull out my case because i didn't want to end up dead somewhere...
and that my friends are the situ of Coppers in this country...
they are bunch un-educate, ill-discplined set of mor0ns...
and if any one thinks it's just a few that brings a bad name to all coppers...they got their heads up their buttocks...
95% of the cops are totally screwed up... |
