`Upahara Sihiwatana` [Remembrance CD]

Tuesday, 3 November 2009 - 11:08 AM SL Time

In remembrance of the 22nd death anniversary of the Late Sri Lankan Music Legend Kalaasuri H.R Jothipala, some of his immortal songs have been reproduced and have been made available on an audio CD format.

This production, consisting of 21 songs, features the 20 greatest hits of H R Jothipala. The CD also includes a tribute song [lyrics by Dr. Vicumpriya Perera] to H R Jothipala. Music direction has been done by several leading artistes and musicians [Sangeeth Wickaramasingha, Ananda Waidiyasekara and the popular band Seeduwa Sakura] contributing generously towards the recreation of the musical tracks. All 21 songs are vocalised by Nalin Jayawardena. Duets were sung by Santhuri Waidiyasekara, a 16 year old from Gampaha.

Jayawardena was the first Sri Lankan artiste who made a Sinhala song CD available on the internet to be downloaded free of charge at http://netcd.lankaderana.com. In that endeavour, he was supported by his brother Rohan Jayawardena and the premiere Sinhala music site www.sinhalajukebox.org on its production and delivery.

The 21 songs in this CD titled UPAHARA SIHIWATANA has been produced with a variety of styles in mind: some are recreated to be felt as a live stage performance, some are almost closer to the originals with high quality recording using the same musical arrangements and instrumentations while the others are modified versions to suit the current musical trends and tastes.

The songs are now available to be downloaded through www.amazon.com, and will also be distributed free of charge in Sri Lanka, a limited number of copies will be available for distribution among expatriates. Any fan who is interested in obtaining a free copy please email to naljaya@iinet.net.au with your name and postal address. Radio Stations, Sri Lankan musical websites, media outlets, and various facilities that cater to Sri Lankan web presence are hereby invited to contact Jayawardena for complementary copies for broadcasting and public performance.

The creators of this CD would like to thank and pay tribute to all of the original artists and musicians who contributed their valuable talents in creating the original songs featured in this CD and allowing their creations to be brought forward to the next generation of Sinhala music lovers. It was found difficult to contact the original artists personally due to lack of information available through regular channels of there whereabouts.

Ramz,

This is Aussie magic, they won sans a full side isn't it?

Asoka made a mess, by ruling Sachin LBW to a delivery missing the leg stump..........huge blunder.

He might have received special police escort at Mohali yesterday. :):):)

Hauritz bowled a peach to get rid of Raina, that was the turning point!

Ramz,

Thanks for the info, missed the action as i was focussed on the Aus-Indo clash.

The Bengals usually do well in their own den and then they have developed some match winners over the past, with Shakib Hassan standing out.

Perhaps they wanted to wrap up the game in a hurry thereby losing 04 wickets in the chase.
