A top Political leader of a party in Tamil Nadu was among the group that attacked the
Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi earlier this month, Sri Lankan government sources told Daily Mirror.
Official sources revealed that video footage showed the General Secretary of the Puthiya Tamilagam party within the mob that broke into the premises of the High Commission on the 2nd of October.
According to sources 14 others were identified via the video footage captured by media personnel that had been present at the time of the attack. These 14 persons had subsequently applied for anticipatory bail from the Madras High Court and thereafter been granted anticipatory bail by the
Chief Justice of the Madras High Court on the 18th of October.
The suspects had then been advised to seek anticipatory bail from the New Delhi High Court before the expiration of their bail in mid November. However, according to sources, the New Delhi Police have apposed the anticipatory bail application.
Sources told the Daily Mirror that a number of criminals were among those identified by the video footage. The attack on the High Commission took place following a protest against the against the Sri Lankan Navy`s alleged attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen in the Palk Strait the camera crews at the scene had thereafter captured the attack.

Rohitha Bogollagama said on the 5th of October that he had been informed of the arrest of one person connected to the attack. This news came amidst assurances from
Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna that steps would be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice.
