TE Law College releases book on `Family Law`
[TamilNet, Saturday, 03 February 2007, 02:25 GMT]
`We are very proud that even after the Tamil community has been subjected to unprecedented hardships, people have held onto their strong cultural values. In the last 12 to 13 years only 154 families have sought separation or divorce in Vanni region. It is a remarkable statistic in a society that has been struggling for social changes for many years,` K. V. Balakumaran, senior member of Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam (LTTE) said Wednesday.
Mr. K. V. Balakumaran speaking at the event said, `The traditional norms of the Tamil society are under strain. In a society that struggles for independence it is natural that some traditions have to evolve to keep pace with the progress of the society.
`I believe firmly that the book `Family Law` will definitely help our people to understand the laws related to the family and help them to solve disputes internally without resorting to legal action,` he further said.
The `Family Law` was written by Vimal Nixon, a member of the Tamileelam Administrative Unit, explaining Tamileelam laws that deal with family-related issues and domestic relations including nature of marriage, child abuse, divorce and property settlement among others. The book launch took place at the Law College in Kilinochchi around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
The Chief Judge of Tamileelam, Anbu, presided to the event and the senior member of LTTE, K. V. Balakumaran, lit the common flame. Sivakumar from Tamileelam Police hoisted the Tamileelam national flag and Mrs. Jasitha, the mother of martyr Lieutenant Singhabalan, lit the flame of sacrifice and garlanded his portrait.
Miss. Gigaginy, a Law College student, delivered the welcome address and Para, the Head of Tamileelam Judiciary, introduced the book.
Pon. Poologasingam, the acting Jaffna District Judge and the lecturer of law at Jaffna University and Tamileelam Law College ceremoniously released the book by handing over the first copy to K. Ananthan, the proprietor of Kumaraguru Textiles, Kilinochchi.
The Tamil Eelam Law College was established in 1991 in Jaffna. It was moved to Puthukudiyiruppu in Mullaithivu after the Sri Lanka army took control of the Jaffna peninsula in 1995.

VP wasted a lot of resources trying to establish trappings of civil administration, before securing international support and also establishing military parity.
The tactics worked for Eritrea but are out dated in the post 9/11 world.
So this was a waste of resources:((

Gonnamba, old chap, here are few 'Tamileelam laws' from this 'book':

* Children younger than 6 years are by law required to appear in fake propaganda photos looking scared or dead

* All children older than 6 years are to report to neareast terorist camp for active duty.

* All women who are capable of wearing a bra without raising suspicion are required to report to suicide bra bomb training.

* Uncle Praba has the right to sleep with any black tiger women at any time.

Cheers!
